So after watching the IGN reveal today and seeing a little of the Farm and what it will entail, I was looking to see if I could spot a shooting range anywhere.
They didn't show one, but as it's been pretty much one of the most requested features since Vanilla Destiny launched, I'm really hoping it's something that makes it into D2.
The soccer field was amusing, but not something I see players spending loads of time playing. A shooting range would be another story.
One of the things that dogged D1 is that so many of our drops went unused because taking an unknown weapon (particularly into PvP) just isn't that practical. Having a dedicated place to try them out, get a good feel for subtle differences and just practice handling would only benefit the players and the game.
There are a multitude of ways to go about it, from a CoD type obstacle course to the dynamic moving targets of the original Perfect Dark's range.
One thing that stood out from the reveal was the "great question" of what the Crucible Robots were for. I could be (read probably am) grasping at straws, but it would be awesome if they were a part of some form of shooting range or weapon testing system at the Farm.
What do you think? Is Shaxx getting our training ground ready? Is a shooting range something you want to see at the Farm?

20 AntwortenMore smoke and mirrors from Sols. "C'mon guys don't you remember? It's what we have all been asking for since year one" Is it fanboy? Is it really? We all know you won't stand any criticism of your Bungie overlords. The rose tinted glasses are strong with this one. What is the number one thing on the list of any player who has put time into this game? Dedicated servers. I don't remember seeing multiple salty threads about not having a shooting range. Threads about: Severs, Vault space, Matchmaking, Weapon balancing, Meta's, Thorn, Loot drops, Dry content, Silver, vault space, sub-classes, and vault space. I saw all of those. No salty shooting range threads? So please Sols, stop with your B.S. and trying to distract the community, who have legitimate complaints or concerns, over the game changes being made in D2. Most people been playing the game for 3 years. Credit those people with the intelligence to say what may help or damage the game. After all, when you think about it, Even the average Joe casual, plays the game more than any Bungie employee. Stop your nonsense.

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von w3rdblader: 7/7/2017 3:06:15 AMNo, there won't. It's not a first person zone, they are using the same engine so the social spaces will work exactly the same. You would have to leave the farms instance and load into a new instance, making it no longer the farm. There, saved you people from having to listen to this guy.

Bearbeitet von Stormhawk118: 7/6/2017 7:41:48 PMPatrol is a shooting range, and if it's like d1, loading time between the tower and patrol will likely be less than 3 minutes Ive always thought it would be cool if there was public events in social areas though, repel a fallen sciff or two from the tower and get the usual public event daily loot, no penalty for failing other than embarrassment Or in the case of d2, repel a red legion harvester or 2 Just imagine, you're talking to a vendor one second, then you're taken out of your menu, your helmet flashes on, you're put in first person, and your guardian draws their weapon as the screen turns blue signaling the event, I think it would be pretty cool

6 AntwortenSome people seem to not understand why shooting ranges are desired by fps gamers. There's a reason a ton of games do it.... why not just do it on patrol? The point is to have a standard ground where targets do not change, therefore you can actually see a difference when testing different options of guns. I will do a shooting range exercise. Then I will change scopes and do it again. This allows me to easily see, which scope works best for me at different ranges. It helps me choose what weapons to use at different ranges. In order to do that on patrol, if have to load in, and use the weapon. Then leave, load in again and hope the enemies are in the exact same location and don't move in a different direction. Tldr: shooting ranges limit external variables, allowing you to focus on the difference you see in the actual guns options. Instead of saying, I had a little higher ground that time, or this time my sightline was better. Etc.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von TheShadow-cali: 7/6/2017 8:57:06 PMIMO at this point a firing range doesn't really serve any purpose other then entertainment. From my experience most Gamers when acquiring weapons will want hands on experience, not run back to test weapons out on a firing rang when you can't change the states. That means they will take weapons and actually test them out in the events to see how any weapon will performs. This company took the feedback of it's fanbase and instead of making a firing range they added test weapons to the Blacksmith that turned out to be more about leveling up rep more then anything else just to keep new gamers occupied because of the light level system. Why bother with legendary weapons leveling them up from the Blacksmith when a rear that was a random drop had more value that gave you the incentive to use your resources. Destiny 2 Has Faction Vendors But They Won’t Sell Weapons https://gamerant.com/destiny-2-faction-vendors-weapons/ After reading the article above and it stating Factions Vendors are the only Venders that anyone will be able to purchase weapons with them being set weapons, IMO that takes the concept of the game even further from when Destiny was released. With the way Destiny 2 appears to be setup with the Venders, everything is set, it's all picked out for you with no other options. Destiny 1 was design more on allowing gamers to have more freedom to customize weapons, characters and allow them to use whatever they wanted to. Now it feels from what has been shown up to this point that that freedom is being stripped from the gamers. My concern right now is this companies actions this last 3 years that speaks louder then their words. Usually this company doesn't give something without taking something. So, having this firing range... Are Gamers going to have to use their synth to use the firing range? Are gamers going to have to grind for a certain material to use the firing range? Overall what will it cost and how does it really serve any purpose in this game when Destiny 1 it were is could of been actually used other then entertainment?

Nah. Those are the Redjacks, or Shaxx's team of frames that clears out zones to make crucible matches.
-
Chicken targets

1 AntwortenHate to break it to you but they're sex robots.
-
Who gives a flying fart? That's what patrols, crucible and strikes are for.
-
Why does it -blam!-ing matter, that's why we have patrol
-
I need a shooting range to practice my skills with wormwood.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von DramasEnd: 7/6/2017 3:46:36 PMI vote for Skeet Shooting at The Farm. Different modes for different weapon types. Maybe throw in a rusty bolt action sniper you can use.
-
Great a place to test all the guns with static perks. No more variety. Sounds more like battlefield than a loot based shooter. This sequel is going to be a joke.
-
What? Just go into a strike to test out weapons, it's not difficult at all. But if all activities (or most) have locked loadouts, I agree that a firing range would be great.
-
3 AntwortenA shooting range only makes sense to me if there was a weapon mod bench right next to one. But that's not Destiny. Otherwise patrol should work fine... just gotta sit through some loading screens.
-
Would be nice, with targets that glow when you hit them, so you don't have to walk down range to check your score. won't happen though because we want it to.
-
1 AntwortenIt would only work if it was accessible while matchmaking, similar to cod
-
If there's to be a shooting range, it should be a real farm shooting range complete with plinking beer cans and shooting wildlife that happens to stray onto the range.
-
Seems like ppl want this. Not something I feel is needed since ballistics or trajectory dont matter in Destiny. Isn't patrol what you should be doing to really test a weapon? After all practice makes perfect. Just dont see an actual point or real reason why one would be needed.
-
That would be a good feature.
-
I shooting range that is more an are that has bot enemies runing around at different distances
-
I was looking for the same thing. I played a hunting game for computer once that had one, and it was the greatest thing ever! Now granted...things like ballistics, trajectory, and sighting in your scope were needed in that game(not in destiny). However, it could prove helpful to practice things like no scopes, slide scopes, jump shots, on a life sized guardian or 4. Maybe one that shows were your bullet landed, and they start to disappear after 3-5 shots. Maybe allowing you to test all the perks before having to level them up(if that's still a thing).
-
Why don't we aim for higher? Instead of a static shooting range why don't we get a timed course that acts as both tutorial and challenge similar to COD4?
-
You need to get out of your Bunker on GTA.
