Ah, more reason to dislike my Arc subclass for PVE content. Thank you. "...they've definitely mastered the art of giving us just a tiny little taste, leaving us hanging for more." Most performers do this because they don't really have any more. I predict that this is why we didn't see much of Arcstrider in that whole hour-long gameplay stream. ...if you can't tell, I'm not happy with Bladedancer, and so far am not impressed with Arcstrider.

 • They didn't show much of the sentinel class for titans either. The star of the show was definitely dawnblade.

 • People certainly got to see a lot of Dawblade and its subclass features, yes, but if you watch the gameplay videos and pay mild attention, you can see these features for the super alone: The shield protects the player, the shield protects fireteam members, fireteam members can shoot through the shield (Ward of Dawn did not have this feature, so it's important), the shield has an Aegis-style shieldbash, the shield can be thrown a good distance, when you throw the shield you have another immediately after the animation ends, the shield will track enemies when thrown, and a thrown shield will bounce between enemies damaging them as it goes. That's melee, range, and protection abilities all in one. Maybe some of this will require exotics, like the bouncing between enemies, or something like that, but that's still a lot of versatility for one ability. Meanwhile, I have combed through the whole hour of the gameplay stream, paying close attention, and this is all I can find for Arcstrider: the base attack of the super is melee, you flip and do acrobatics a lot, there's a slam ability a little smaller than Showstopper, and it has a small wave attack that is a little wider than the character and goes about 4 feet forwards. That's it. They even reuse sections of the Arcstrider footage, maybe because it's the best footage they have, or maybe because they just don't care about it. So... Dawnblade certainly looks like their pride and joy (Bungie loves Warlocks). But Sentinel doesn't look like it's been left in the dirt by any means. Arcstrider however... well, Bungie tends to show off what it has done well, and leave out what it has done poorly when it presents its content. So Arcstrider... will likely be as bad for PVE as Bladedancer. It might not even have invisibility.

 • While I agree that the Titan Sentinel class looks very good and versatile, they may still change the subclass between now and release. I remember when the Hammer of Sol was first revealed and they showed you could actually melee people with the hammer and throw it as well. It would be awesome if the arcstrider had an ability where you could throw the staff at people. I believe in one of the clips that I'll link below that the arcstrider may have a smash like move similar to what they show the dawnblade have when he dives from midair. Skip to about 3:50 on the video and you can see some arcstrider gameplay. https://youtu.be/k31uRCPPw-Ilink

 • Yup, that was the slam ability I was talking about that was smaller than Showstopper. I mean, there are two Cabal, both in close proximity to where the Hunter slams. Both of these Cabal are alive when the slam hits, but only the one on the right dies. Now, you'd expect that that was likely because it takes a moment for the slam to affect the cabal, but the slam is still moving when that one on the right starts to disintegrate, and the wave hasn't even reach him yet. I'd say it's likely going to be the alternate attack on RB, like how Dawnblade's slam will be on RB. You're right, it all might be subject to change. But let's take a look at what is likely to change. Sentinel will still be able to defend itself and other players. It will definitely be able to use ranged attacks, and definitely be able to use melee. The subclass nodes you choose from may affect how effective these attacks are, such as one having tracking and the other having bouncing, something like that, but all in all, good defense with (hoepfully balanced) range and melee. But unless they add a ranged attack to Arcstrider (and Striker for that matter, which is also now a melee only DoT super), or the ability to put all damage into one hit, it will not be up to snuff.

 • I think it's supposed to balance out the fact it's melee/close range only with the fact that hunters are the fastest, most mobile class in the game. You have to use the speed to get in close. The only problem is that in Destiny 1, the speed and mobility of arcblade is largely canceled out in pvp because one titan smash kills the arcblade. If they make it so that smash in D2 doesn't one hit kill the arcstrider unless he's somewhat damaged, then I can see it being more viable. PVE has never been arcblade's strong suit, especially against bosses because you can't really get close to them. A long range attack there would be a perfect way to make it more useful.

 • Hunters most certainly are not the fastest most mobile class in the game.

 • They've fixed the Striker in D2 by limiting its range. It's still a one hit kill, and it's going to be Fists of Havoc, plural, but you have to be a lot more precise with them. There's footage already of a Striker just spamming the triggers in PVP and completely missing their combatant, and getting mowed down in the process. My concerns are mostly with PVE. The only thing useful for killing with a melee only super is adds if it's also a DoT ability. With Striker in D1, it's melee only, but you can still use it on bosses because it's all the damage in one go. But Bladedancer doesn't do this, it takes its time, and in doing so the boss will AoE smash, meaning less damage output and an increased risk of death if you go back to it. No "Dragon of Light" ability should be relegated to adds only for PvE, it's supposed to be our strongest attack. The huge shame to me is that there are three pretty easy options to fix this and still keep the subclasses to the same theme. One is adding ranged attacks, like throwing the pole (doesn't really work for Striker). The other is putting all the damage from your super into one hit (sort of restoring the Striker to what it was) and through the equivalent of sunspots (such as making the titan slam once and leaving a long-lasting aftermath, or the Arcstrider planting/throwing the pole and having the pole deliver the DoT effect). The one slam ones could be easily done with exotics. The sunspot equivalents are already in the game, or you could use the Arcstrider one just like a long arcbolt grenade. And throwing the pole wouldn't be too hard to program.

 • True but perhaps the arcstrider is meant to be more of a pvp class. I'm with you though, hopefully they have perks that are more pve focused. If the changes they made to golden gun are any indication, Bungie appears to be trying to make supers more versatile across different game modes. Here's to hoping they succeed :)

 • I hope so too, but Bladedancer was also a good PVP class, and it sucked for PVE once it lost the invisibility monopoly (and I hope, for goodness sake, that it doesn't get it back). But the problem with that is that it leaves only 2 subclasses to experience the end-game with, and when you get to that point... the game gets boring fast. Once you get to that end-game experience, the section where it lives and dies on replayability, the major factor is variation. And the more variation there is, the better. And having 3 subclasses to run strikes with, for different experiences, or story missions, or using different weapons, adds to that variation. Having an entire subclass that's useless... This all being said, I think Destiny 2 looks amazing. I'm just really hoping (fingers crossed) that I don't have to become a Titan main to enjoy the experience.

 • Nothing wrong with bladedancer. It's great for PvP and was essential in pve for raids and strikes. Watch your team die so you can go invis and revive. You must be late to the party coz bladedancer WAS the best class. Not so much now but still

 • It WAS essential, yes. I mained Bladedancer until Khepri's Sting because it had that monopoly. But Arcblade always sucked (tether can do the same damage to adds but faster and from range, decreasing risk), and Nightstalker (which apparently will return) has invisibility too. Bladedancer is now obsolete for PVE in so many respects. And that means there is something wrong with it. When you get to end-game material and a subclass is THAT much less competitive than the others for that class... that removes a third of the way you can play those activities. The same stuff very quickly gets boring because it's always run the same way. There are only so many times you can run the same 2 subclasses, which is why getting a third subclass with TTK was so important. But Bladedancer has a HIGH risk to its perks, and a very LOW reward for PVE, so it's not really viable. And Arcstrider... it looks like it's going to follow the same route.
