Yea, they way destiny works is that every part of the world that you can see but actually go to isn't just part of the skybox, it's an actual part of the game. It isn't made to be used by players, but it's still 3 dimensional space, not a 2d skybox like a lot of other games.

Yeah, thats the point that the guy talking about the "playable terrain" was trying to make when he was talking about those far off spaces. He worded it shit and I am half convinced he had no idea what he was talking about when he said "we hope to someday send you to those places". A simple point that far off geometry was actually physically rendered rather than a skybox went out of control as the big "lie" of destiny.
