As a casual PC gamer here is my 2 cents on 60fps vs 30fps.
60fps is nice and smooth but once you become immersed in the game you won't even notice that the game is in 60fps, when switching to my PS4 to play GTA Online yes 30fps jarring but once I became immersed it no longer mattered. So for me at least high fps are numbers used by PC elitist to make themselves feel superior.

I'll be needing that PCMR card back please. Hand it in at reception on your way out.

60 fps is only nice when its locked at 60. If there are constant dips that's when it's jarring and annoying. Id rater have a locked steady 30 than a game that does 45-60. Like you said once you're at it, and its a smooth frame rate, you don't notice unless there's dipps.
