Tails of the Dragon Slayer -- Episode IX: Fight a Guardian with a New Gun

Big thank you to Dredgan Yor who helped me figure some stuff out. I'm glad to say that I'll be joining the Paradox Universe! I mounted my Sparrow. It was my own now. I looked back at the members of Shin’s posse. We had all gone through so much together. I’d seen many people leave since the City was built, and now I was going to join them. I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for me there. I waved good-bye to my friends and family, then I sped off. Jade gave me a marker on my map telling me where to go. “So, Jade. What’s the Tower like?” I asked. “Well,” Jade stuttered. “It’s white. There’s a lot of white. We Ghosts start out white too. But, uh, there are lots of people there. Mainly Guardians, but there are others too. People like the faction leaders, who have never really gotten along, our Gunsmith, an exo named Banshie-44, and the chryptarch. People hate him for some reason. I don’t know why, though. I’ve heard it has something to do with his decryption skills for legendary engrams” It wasn’t long until we arrived at the gates to the Last City. It was hard not to see it on the horizon, with the giant white sphere and all. “That’s reason why we’re here right now, Pari.” Jade explained. “That thing is the Traveler.” I traveled through the City on foot. I wanted to keep my Sparrow safe, but Jade told me not to worry. She said that I’d be able to get it at any time. As I walked through the streets of the City, I felt like I was some sort of freak. People were looking at me like they had never seen a Guardian before. I heard people whisper things along to lines of “Who is she?” and “Where did she come from?” Though it was further away, I heard one person comment “That’s a Daybreaker tooth she’s got on her necklace.” Before I could get vary far, I was approached by a man, who looked exactly like a man from an old Western movie. “Hello, miss!” he said warmly. “Welcome to the Last City! I’m a representative of the foundry TexMechanica. Are you in need of a weapon?” “I actually am. My posse didn’t give me a weapon before I left.” “Well then, I have just the weapon for you!” The man lead me to his table, and he gave me a western hand cannon. “It’s called The Bane of Ahamkara. It can down six of them dragons with one magazine!” I took the weapon in my hands and spun it like Shin did with The Last Word. “Feels just like The Last Word.” The whole crowd gasped. “You’ve held The Last Word?” the TexMechanica man asked. “The weapon of Jaren Ward and Shin Malphur?” “Yeah…” I replied, a little confused. “Shin Malphur raised me when my parents were killed by Dredgen Yor. I actually was there when Shin killed Dredgen.” Just then, another Guardian pushed her way through the crowd to stand in front of me. “What did you say?” she asked. There was something about her that just didn’t seem right. She was clearly a Guardian, but it was almost like she was corrupted. Her face clearly showed it. She did not have a helmet on which helped me make that conclusion. After all, her eyes were glowing yellow. “I said,” I slowly began, “I was raised by Shin Malphur after Dredgen Yor killed my parents.” She pulled a gun on me, and the crowd screamed and fled. After looking at it carefully, it looked like that one that I found in the weapons tent. “Wh…where did you get that gun?” I asked, shocked at the fact that that was the same gun I used to kill Alec with. “I’ve had it since I was eight years old! You and I are going into the Crucible!” She and I went into the Crucible on a map called Frontier. We met on the bridge and she said, “I am Dredgen Yor’s daughter, and you will die!” Before she could pull the trigger, I dived under one of the trains. While hiding, I quickly thought of what I should do. Looking around, I found a fusion grenade holder, so I stuffed some dirt in it, and threw it at her. I jumped out from under the car, threw the smoke bomb, and kicked the gun out of her hand. She retaliated by punching me in the gut. Getting on top of me, she pulled out her knife and attempted to stab my neck. I squirmed as she brought the knife down. She kept only just missing my neck. I knew that I had to get her off of me, or I really would die. With all of my strength, I tried to push her off of me, but she had all of her weight on top of me. She put a hand on my neck and raised her knife, and I prepared for the final blow as my breathing slowly constricted. “Courtney!” a voice yelled. “Stop!” Out of nowhere, a Titan shoulder charged the person on top of me. “Chris, not now!” Courtney yelled back, getting up from being knocked over. “She and I have some unfinished business!” I got up with the help of this Chris. Rubbing my neck, I slowly breathed in and out to slow my heart rate. “That doesn’t mean you can kill her, Courtney Bray!” Chris replied. He sounded flustered. “Just wait until your father hears of this, Christopher Shaxx!” “I think he’d congratulate me for having saved a Guardians life!” As they continued to argue, I slowly crept away. I didn’t want to get more involved than I already was, and I figured that the two of them could sort out whatever was going on anyway. Besides, I had to make myself a legend, and I wasn’t going to do it by fighting Dredgen Yor’s daughter. Oh the times she and I would have.
