Highly doubt anyone, especially the company cares since xbox one sales surpased 360 sales a while ago, so they are already making more money on it than their previous console. Also everyone. Should be compared to nintendo right now because they are currently making a comeback to top sold system, in fact once they start getting enough systems out i can see them easily becoming the top selling console of this generation (especially seeing as they have been consistently sold out). It is cheaper, has had better marketing, and finally shows a promising lineup of games with one of their best games of all time out as a release title. So ya i dont know how you think being compared to nintendo at this point is an insult.

Salesnumbers matter for marketing reasons and shelfspace, in my country the PS4 is vastly outselling the Xbone, and when I walk into a retail store you immediatly notice that the PS4 section is bigger than the Xbone one. It also gives entry consolegamers more reaaons to go for the better selling machine. It might not be that noticable in the U.S. I think sales are more even there, but in the rest of the world the PS4 is vastly outselling the Xbone.
-
And I'm pretty sure the 360 sold more than xb1 still
-
Not by this point in time, you have to compare them by time frame, so year by year. In total 360 has sold more but only because it has been around for over a decade, but xbox one has sold more when comparing them at the same points in time.
-
That's not a fair comparison either since the gaming market has grown. Once that proportion is accounted for, we have a fair comparison. Xbox One sales should be >= (Current market size/Previous market size) * Xbox 360 sales for it to be considered more successful. It's like comparing exclusive game sales to multiplat sales. You have to account for the difference in the size of the potential audience for a meaningful comparison.
-
True but my original point was the company doesnt really care since they are making far more money than they ever have before. My point mainly was that no one cares because the numbers are all higher than they use to be.
-
Actually, tech companies care a lot about market share which is based on market size and their sales. Not trying to start shit, just saying. :P Sales really don't matter a lot since both companies constantly have to try their hardest or they'll be shut down in a few months. However, larger install base is good for attracting exclusive game offers or ports of popular games.

Sales wise it's a slap in the face. Xbox and Nintendo combined don't even touch ps4
-
I still dont see how it is a slap to the face, nintendos sales numbers are ny no means low, and the only reason they arent up at ps4 release levels is because they have yet to make enough of them. You are also comparing the relase of consoles which doesnt always mean a ton at the end of the day, seeing as sony has recently been losing speed (especially with the ps4 pro) while xbox has been gaining speed, and nintendo has just been shot out like a rocket (though we will see what their numbers are like in a year or two to compare them properly). Arguably the switch should be surpassing everyone for release sales seeing as it has been more popular than the ps4 was, the real question is whether or not it will be comparable at two year mark.
-
Because Xbox and ps4 are always top dogs. While Nintendo trails behind. Now Xbox is doing so poorly that is is compared to a low tier "console". But I get where your coming from. And sony is still selling over a mil a month Nintendo is over a mil a month and Xbox is right around 500k a month.
-
Actually that isnt really true, both xbox and playstaion are over a million a month (with them kind of switching back and forth of who sold more that month, since sales always fluctuate, but sony is typically ahead by at least a bit), and nintendo is at about the same xbox was at release (a little under a million) since they havent produced enough consoles as of yet. Also nintendo has by no means always trailed behind, in fact only the game cube and wiiu have trailed behind. The wii outsold everyone with ease and before that xbox and playstation werent around so we dont have any numbers to look at.
-
If you Google it as of January Xbox was at about 500k a month. And sony was almost at 1.1 mil a month. Xbox was ahead in sales in December 2016 because of the one s just came out.
-
The numbers i was looking at just simply averaged all the months out, since as i said they are going to fluctuate from month to month. Horizon zero dawn comes out and ps4 sales shoot up, xbox one s is on sale at eb games, sales shoot up, so you cant really go month by month.
-
There is still eb games where you live? There's almost no game stores here anymore. Even gamestop is closing
-
Wow that kind of sucks, i buy most of my games digitally so i dont use them much anymore but i definitely took advantage of their sale for trading in your xbox one and get a one s for 100 bucks with a free game.
-
Shit lol. The best I get around here is going to best buy since they match on any Amazon prime price.
-
That sucks but best buy isnt bad, dont they have an online deal where you get a 10 dollar gift card for certain purchases if you are a member, i know they used to do that for pre ordering games from them.
-
Yeah and I'm a game member or w.e it is called
