Bungie,
When Icebreaker made its triumphant return to Destiny after a terribly long hiatus, I eagerly took it in to the 320 King's Fall and used it at Totems. I rejoiced in having an activity where a classic like Icebreaker could be used.
Fast forward to today and I used it at the same checkpoint and could not kill a red-bar knight. "Der" you say "Icebreaker is the same Impact as LDR. What did you expect?" Well, Icebreaker actually has 32 Impact, whereas LDR has 31. Icebreaker also has no damage drop off with maximum range.
This is a damn travesty. I literally can't use this weapon in any meaningful PvE activity. The charge rate is too low and it can't kill a knight in King's Fall.
Please, Bungie, increase the impact by another point or two and allow it to kill a red-bar knight in the 390 King's Fall raid.

It's meant for trails now

Bearbeitet von kellygreen45: 4/14/2017 1:21:24 PMIts' Bungie's Fault that you insisted on using a screwdriver to pound a nail? The weapons in the game are TOOLS...and you need to use the right tool for the right job. The Oryx fight ---and Kingsfall in general----is ALL about "burst damage". Putting out as much damage as you possibly can within very narrow windows of time. The time where you need to be able to stagger Oryx. The time where he can be damaged. The time you have to take down Ogre's and Light-eater Knights. The weapons suited for that role are Touch of Malice, Black Spindle. Chaos Dogma, Ex Machina., etc.... If you aren't using these weapons then you need to be using one of the high-impact snipers like Devil's Dawn. Ice Breaker is a very good weapon....you're problem isn't with the weapon. Its with trying to use a weapon that isn't designed to do what you're demanding it to do.
-
I don't mean to be rude, but that was gonna be expected. I bought last week's Event Horizon and use that almost exclusively throughout the raid. It counteracts the sniper nerfs, basically. ( Except for Spindle at War Priest and Golgoroth. )
-
I was using it too and I couldn't one shot the Knight. You know what I did? Shot it once with my primary. No more Knight. Magical right?
-
I got so excited when I got the Ice breaker...Then I used it and I was like "o yeah"
-
Uhhhh..... Black spindle?
-
Was killing light eaters in the oryx fight easy with it
-
If they made Icebreaker powerful, people might actually want to use it... This cannot be allowed to happen, so all guns must be equally mediocre. Anyone else miss Y1 as much as I do?
-
Max impact... good idea, but it will be nerfed again thanks to pvp
-
Ice Breaker is exotic right? Well there you go. It is every current exotic weapon in the game AKA a useless trinket. Just let that soak in. As this game comes to it's close think about all the great weapons we used and what they are now and ask yourself will the new game be worth playing at all?
-
If they did that, it would res sniper in trials, and bungie bases all weapon policy on trials.

That's why it has no stability because bungie forgot to give it stability after changing the archetype.

Bearbeitet von Droid: 4/14/2017 12:51:41 PMWhy would you want to use ib? The very next engagement requires dps. You're not getting dps out of ib, even with a damage buff as you would with the other dps exotics. Or even ex machina for that matter. Or even a clown cartridge + triple tap omolon sniper.... anything is better than a 6 round (potentially 8) ib. (Even with a damage buff to ib) Why waste time switching weapons and popping a synth after totems when you could just go straight into the next engagement and maybe have to pop a synth? You can play the "fun" card.... but if it was for fun.... you wouldn't be here complaining. Not that I'm trying to belittle the complaint, I'm just saying.... even in y1 once we got Black Hammer, ib received barely any use... Unless we were camping a cheese spot in NF out of pure fear of dying and being kicked to orbit.

Wait...wut?!?! You had an expectation that this weapon would OHK something, and it didn't, so you now want Bungie to fix the gun to line up with your expectations? Wow...let me know how that works out, chief.
-
Bungie kind of forgot why exotics are meant to be EXOTIC. Of course they're going to be overpowered...but there is always a counter to it. It was my favorite special in year one paired with a messenger adept.
-
It's because it's 390. You aren't over leveled enough to do that anymore it's the point of challenge mode
-
They won't do anything. Just grab the current vendor Event Horizon. It's good for KF if you don't have a better roll or and Ex Machina.
-
Ex Machina is literally perfect for most Raids. But yeah, obviously all the nerfs made this game suck.
-
You made this post because the weapon doesn't perform the same against higher light enemies. Let's think about that for a second.
-
fire fly has been nerfed to hell on the ice i could headshot a player in the crucible and get a dbl kill now you cant even wound a dreg stood next to the dreg you headshoted .
-
There was absolutely no reason for the damage nerf to the 1KYS archetype to apply to PvE as well. It now leaves the boomer knights on totems with a sliver of health. The archetype didn't even need a damage nerf, just a lowered body shot damage. They should've increased its damage in PvE to compensate.
-
I just don't see d2 being much different. This is an issue, especially because it's an exotic. Anyways, if your not using spindle, your beat...
-
Bearbeitet von Cry: 4/13/2017 12:49:44 AMIcebreaker still has damage drop-off over long range. Having a maxed out stat bar doesn't mean its no longer affected by it. The balancing (nerfs) of Icebreaker came from PvE, not PvP. All the players wanting to blame PvP players for their IB not being as effective as Y1 need to stop. If you're trying to use IB as your main weapon, you're not going to have a good time. You trade off a large ammo pool for not having to run around to get more ammo.
-
Just another way that bungie -blam!-ed you by not dividing pve from pvp. Exotics are easy to deal with... With the exception of weapons meant specifically for pvp, the exotic perks are isolated and only work in pve, making them just normal weapons in pvp. That's really all they have to do. But apparently that's just too -blam!-ing hard to program.
-
For totems I use my trusty ok 1000yd stare. Vendor roll. Triple tap and Milligan. Still hasn't let me down.

Bearbeitet von MADG33k: 4/12/2017 9:29:27 PMWhile I agree with your call to up the IB damage I used the Black Spindle last night in the 390 Totems and had no problem one shotting the red bar knight up top. I believe it was 3 Crits for the yellow bar knight.
