The people paying the money dictate the deal. If Sony paid for a year that's what Sony will get.
It sucks but don't act like it only goes on in Destiny. Both consoles have exclusive titles.

Except Destiny isn't an exclusive title... And yes paying to have content locked for a little while is the norm. But Bungie is a third party developer, this is downright rude to any of their customers that don't buy it on PlayStation, especially considering PC is going to be in the mix this time around. As far as I know this is the only example of this abhorrent behavior for a third party title. It's disgraceful, and both Sony and Bungie should be ashamed of themselves!

Xbox has exclusive games like halo and stuff but I think it is really shady when a company buys exclusives for games like destiny that are cross platform. if you want something to draw people to your console just make a really good console exclusive like halo was back in the day. I understand how business deals work and all and the goal Sony hopes to accomplish by using destiny as like a flagship title for their ps4 but if your gonna do that first of all don't make your flagship game a multi platform game such as destiny or cod and second of all don't do it buy buying rights to exclusive content such as strikes, exotic weapons, and maps and then say the best experience for destiny is on playstation when the maps aren't the best, the exotics never drop, and the strikes don't play a major roll such as being the nightfall. Exclusive content also harms the community of the game with all of this ps4 is better than xbox and vise versa. If you enjoy xbox one get a xbox one you shouldn't be punished for picking one console over the other.
