So let me as you this: what gives you such implicit faith in the things you are shown by sources of authority? You doubt, question, and accuse the the government up and down when it comes to political matters. But as soon as nasa or science come into the picture, the government is somehow infallible and beyond reproach. Why do you have this double standard?
I think we need to believe in something greater than ourselves, be it science, government or religion. So we trust the people in authority to a degree. Then you couple them with science, how can it be wrong? Science is awesome & explains things to us, so science can't be wrong. It is a belief system. We crave having something good & true in our lives. We know the government lies to us, but science can't lie, so it must balance it out. We want it to, so we believe it does. That is how we get the double standard.
My question to you is coming from a buddy who served in the military, so forgive me if I screw up anything.
We are both hunters & like shooting. I am decent, he went into the military & was trained as a sniper. He can make some crazy long shots, just huge distances.
So, he says, that when you shoot at a certain range, you have to use math, I think trigonometry, to factor in wind speed, curvature of the earth, bullet travel speed, gravity, resistance of rhe air, & what not. He also said that a head shot does not enter the front of the head, but drops down from above, entering from the top of the head, which is due to the curvature of our planet being a giant ball.
So, with that in mind, how would you explain that? No rush to answer this one Hoss, I figure you may have to do some research, partly just to make sure I did not screw up the info I provided. Any mistakes are on me, I do not have the training he does, but your posts reminded me of the conversation he & I had about it when he was honorably discharged from service a few years ago.

Bearbeitet von Krishnas Prophet: 3/19/2017 9:59:41 PMThese calculations were arrived at by trial and error: going out and shooting, then recording what happens. Cosmic forces such as The Universal Accelerator and The Obligate Tendency Towards Downward Motion affect the earth in dynamic ways. These forces are perfectly capable of affecting bullet trajectory in the ways you describe. But as the formulas and measurements used to guide shooters were developed by trial and error, people thought they were crafting those equations in relation to a spherical earth and imaginary gravitational forces. In reality, the forces underlying the equations are those that affect the Flat Earth. Essentially, your math can work even if your underlying assumptions about reality are in error.

Cool. Let me update my friend Tuesday & see if he has anything he wants to have clarified or rebuttal. I wish I had his knowledge, but I think you made an excellent reply. I just get a kick out of it. For me, my life will not change if the earth is flat, a ball or a dinosaur, lol. I just enjoy reading these posts!

Bearbeitet von Krishnas Prophet: 3/19/2017 10:07:57 PMThanks m8! All I can say is Keep an Open Mind. Dont favor my explanations just because they sound good. Look at both sides. But it sounds like you are doing that...

I keep an open mind about most things, I have found as I have aged, that a closed mind is a dead mind. Certainty is reserved for death & change, lol. I have looked into the FET a bit, but I will admit, a lot of what I have come across, it is about 2 steps away from a jacket that lets you hug yourself. You make a lot of it sound reasonable/plausible, unlike a number of the YouTube videos I have seen.
