Also, another very good way of getting glimmer is learning to solo crota. From HM without killing Crota you get ~5k glimmer per run from radiant materials, and if you put on wax idols you can get even more. You could probably do it in about 25-30 minutes once you get good at it.

when did Crota get downgraded to a strike? and when did strikes get HM ? I'm confused.....

Crota's End is a very short raid that can be completed rather quickly. Whilst also being soloable thus parts of the community have called it a "strike". Heroic ("Hardmode") Strikes have always been a thing. :-)
