ummm I play Halo 5 and have never had to pay a monthly fee. And, bungie already has microtransactions that are probably generating enough cashflow to pay for more than enough servers to keep this game running smoothly and still leave them a really good profit. All of your arguments against Bungie having them are kind of dumb to be honest. edit - and, if Halo is generating enough money to keep their servers going on one console, there is no way you can tell me they're not making enough money on PSN and XBOX Live combined to get decent servers. It's all about greed son.

It's all about greed son.[/quote] My post was more of an FYI not an arguement against having them. Trying to spread awareness about why a company would choose not to use them. As folks seem to think Bungie is not using them out of malice/disdain for the community. Halo 5 is the flagship game/shooter of X-Box One so its easy to see MS not taking a risk and being willing to fund the game's servers. MS also has deep pockets. That said Halo 5 has Microtransactions that are far more potent than Destiny. That is no coincidence. I can't find any numbers on how much Silver sales Destiny gets. I fully agree with you that they are probably high. But I doubt they are high enough to fund Dedicated Servers + Content development. Destiny's Silver Sales pale to Halo 5's Requisition sales. Festival of the Lost proved Silver isn't selling well. That was a HUGE cash grab and showed that they need money. However, Halo 5's requisitions are designed to directly effect gameplay. So they get purchased more often/repeatedly. They not only can directly turn the tide of battle, but permanently unlock actual items in addition to the usual cosmetic things. Destiny's major microtransactions are mostly all cosmetic so they tend to be 1 time buys despite the RNG system. Imagine if there was an Exotic Treasure that "granted" an unowned exotic? Or an "Heavy Artillery" item that allowed your team to get Heavy Ammo when you used it. People would significantly buy Silver more as there would always be a need. Folks would also be outraged. My point is that... To make the money to fund the sheer amount of dedicated servers Destiny would need, would require Destiny to have much more enticing things available. Which the community doesn't want. Halo 5 has made over 1.5mil off requisitions sales alone in its first few months. Destiny hasn't made that much (compared to Halo 5) off Silver. The fact I can't even find a earnings report isn't a good sign. (I know some of it went towards the esports Halo 5 reward.)
