Holy hell. Basic Physics would blow your mind. I don't even know why I bother anymore.

School drilled that crap into my head. It was all bs.

Typical barely coherent Krishna's response.

At least I don't believe in the incoherence of scientific dogma. And by the way, 4th grade physics cannot explain why the earth does not fall down through space.
At least I don't believe in the incoherence of scientific dogma. And by the way, 4th grade physics cannot explain why the earth does not fall down through space.
To my understanding, down is a relative and subjective term. How do you even know that the universe has a bottom or a downward direction? And then, how can you even confirm it? I think you need to learn to differentiate between actual science and mainstream pseudoscience. The scientific method is legit, I would say. However, using the scientific method by itself is worthless if used without philosophy and ethics. There's a lot of people in the scientific community that even seem to use the SM loosely or apply it incorrectly. But it's impossible for man to be completely objective. Life is complicated, but humanity continuously has and will try to simplify it. Just because one hasn't considered a factor, doesn't mean that there isn't another factor to consider. Just because one has ruled out a factor that they can't confirm, doesn't mean that the factor can't be applied. What would the implications be of assuming a factor to not be? What would the consequences be of incorrectly assuming that a factor can't be applied or exist? How can you confirm that the implications or consequences are accurate? I'd say that a huge mental illness that all of humanity has struggled with but has never or will ever be able to eliminate is hubris.

I would talk to you about the coexisting nature of gravity and inertia, but you'll come back with some pseudointellectual bullshit about indoctrination. Oh well.

Give it your best shot. I won't bring up indoctrination if you like...

Interesting video, but like most spherist explanations, it merely describes. It does not explain. For example, I paraphrased some points made in the video:
Gravity is the force that holds the universe together
How so? Gravity has never been observed. A phenomenon has been observed (things falling and possible orbiting) and gravity merely represents a description of that phenomenon. It is not a fact.
Gravity is stronger when objects are close
This is what I mean about gravity only being described, not explained. Scientists still do not understand why mass generates gravity. People see something fall and assume the cause exists in the object it is falling toward. It is a decent assumption, but not an explanation. Definitely not something worth of being taught as universal fact. Other possible causes exist as to why the object fell.
It is falling toward yet never reaches the sun due to its speed
That really seems like an explanation that is inherently contradictory. Why would speed keep an object perpetually falling yet not falling? Even if speed could somehow explain this, what keeps the Moon, Earth or other bodies in motion in the first place? Without a propellant (something to actively move it) the earth would crash into the sun. Or the moon into the earth. The spherist conception of the universe is inherently flawed as it lacks a universal force to keep objects in motion. Without a motive force, objects like the earth would fall infinitely downward through space. Even if gravity were explained and shown to exist (it has not been) what would keep objects in motion in the first place?

Objects in motion tend to stay in motion, and objects at rest tend to stay at rest. That's Newton's first law of motion. This tendency towards the physical status quo is known as inertia. The earth continues to orbit the sun because there is no external force large enough to knock it out of its orbit.

And... no reply. Man, I wanted to see an actual argument with no "indoctrination" bull.
