Sun breaker is out of the discussion for a main. The only thing it really has going for it is that you can spec double fusions recharging at 12.5 seconds if specced appropriately. The super is very difficult to use and someone can easily jump around and avoid it even if you lead your shots. I only use it in Mayhem and do very well with it because I can use suncharge to counter everything. Other than the fusion grenades. the neutral game is awful. The melee has the worst damage and range of any other melee, and the perks that you can spec for it are useless.
Both Nightstalker and Gunslinger are very good choices for a main, I would get familiar with them both. Nightstalker has arguably the best neutral game in the whole game, and I would suggest pairing keen scout with graviton forfeit. That way, you have a detailed radar, an evade that can dodge tracking grenades, and a grenade/melee combo that can kill people fairly quickly, although it is not guaranteed like it once was. The super is not great, but use black hole and you can tether people from very far away.
Gunslinger has an excellent super game and a mediocre neutral game. The super will beat any other super 1 on 1 because of it being hit scan, having high aim assist, and having enough damage to 1 shot any super, including a striker mid fist of havoc. However, don't use it stupidly while you are weak or while others see you because you don't get damage reduction while in it. The neutral game is decent, but not as good as nightstalker in my opinion. Throwing Knife is still great, and if you can aim with it can save you in situations that you really should have died in. I don't really like tripmine, and I find that I kill myself with it more than others. Use it if you are good with it, but otherwise just use incendiary.
Hope you appreciate my insight :)
Edit: To avoid having to make the same points in these replies, here are some more things:
While I maybe bashed sun breaker neutral game a little too hard, compared to the others I just feel it is outclassed, and at best barely matches gunslinger neutral game.
The melee is the worst of the 3, and while you can get multi kills with thermal vent, this is not going to happen very often. It has the lowest range in the game, the least instant damage, and to top it off, thermal vent doesn't even do full damage most of the time. As for the grenades, incendiary is a good choice, but gunslingers can (and probably will spec it most of the time), so you are left with grenades that match gunslinger nades and a melee that is outclassed.

Gotta disagree on most of the sun breaker things, while I agree the super can be avoided if used right you can lead the enemy into a trap or even wipe them all out, the melee is one of the best, I've easily gotten a triple from the melee before, the burn over time and explosion is awesome from it, and incendiary is great to kill several or force them back if they pushing to hard.
-
The melee is great? It has the worst range, and deals the least instant damage. If the DoT isn't going to kill them anyway, then hitting them with it and not killing them when any other melee would have gives them the chance to run and potentially heal in some way. I understand that you can score huge multi kills (I have seen it before), such an event is extremely rare and the stars have to align for you to get such a chance. In addition, you have to be running thermal vent, which occasionally will not do the 104 base damage and end up doing even less then that total. Incendiary is a good choice, but gunslingers can get it as well. Also, you can avoid it fairly easily if you have good reflexes. Maybe I bashed sun breaker a little too hard, but compared to the other 2, I really feel like it is outclassed.
-
DoT is meant to stop healing. And the melee can kill low armor targets in one hit.
-
Not anymore it can't. It used to be able to, but the damage over time duration got kicked down. And I would rather deal all the damage at once because then I don't trade if the damage kills them.
-
Finally someone gets it. Everyone complained about firebolt dot which was the same as sunstrike with 2 additional perks required and would more likely result in a trade. Anyway you can one shot them but only if they're min health. 2 ticks were taken off removing 14 damage. The melee still does 190 total, but you have to use thermal vent.
-
Eh depends how you use it, I don't look at sunbreakers as a upfront killer. It's a control subclass, I prefer it in trials and the likes. Easy way to control the enemy. It's more of a damage over time class. Each has their own roll to play. Striker is all up front on damage and defender is about keeping you in the fight, sunbreaker is about burning them and keeping them back or burning them away make them think about their next move. Each has their weaknesses. I do agree thou the up front damage from punch is bugged thou. But overall it gets its job done in its own way
-
Any other super can 'control the enemy' by forcing them back though. And people are a lot less inclined to challenge storm callers then they would be with sun breakers. Every class has weaknesses, but this one really has a lot of them.
-
How do you control them in between getting the supers? Also why would you use your super with just the intent of pushing them back? If you want all your damage upfront then use striker :D if each subclass played the same then they might as well get rid of the subclasses and just make them all equal. Sunbreaker is a slower subclass to play
-
How do you control them in between getting the supers? If that is your argument, that that means that you think sun breaker does a great job at that. It doesn't. We have already talked about the melee and like 90% of grenades could be used for 'controlling an area'
-
Sunbreaker pushes them back better then defender and striker. Most will challenge a defender and striker the Lightning nade is all they really got. Sunbreaker you got nade to burn them, melee burn which passes to all so even if you die they're all burning and easier for your team to kill. Sunbreaker controls better then the other two subclass

Nice lying about the multi kills though.
-
How am I lying when it's showed in feed a triple melee -.-
-
If you didn't have a mediocre kd I might have believed that you got multikills once this year. But nah, I don't see that happening, not even close to often.
-
Ah I get it, legacy troll, kd don't mean shit if someone never deletes their character but meh not gonna argue with a troll, would say cya around but naa I wont
-
A 'legacy troll'? What kind of made up term is that? I never deleted my titan and my kd there is 2+. Must not be legit right? You are mediocre at best. Don't try to deny it.
-
Bearbeitet von Shivani: 9/10/2016 11:40:30 PMOh I'm not denying I'm not good but if I played mostly 6v6 stuff and barely touched elimination or trials I also would probably run 2.0+ kd but then again you'll have some excuse for that, so GL trolling :D
-
No you obviously wouldn't. There is no way someone like you could keep a solid 2.0. And no, I don't do 6v6 only. You're only trolling yourself with these obvious lies. Stick with the barbies. You still haven't explained what a 'legacy troll' is though. Must be a made up term with no meaning.
-
I often find the explosion is glitched and only applies the burn damage to the main enemy I hit. I do love melting point though. I've beaten supers 1v1 with that bad boy.
-
Yea it seems to work for me, I find myself getting multi kills all the time
-
All I know is it doesn't do Jack shit for me, but melting point, I can beat armor of light bubble people all day every day amongst other supers.
-
Yea idk comes down to preference melting point I can see the power behind it easily I like it on bosses in pve in pvp I mostly play trials so no time most the time for it to be as effective as it could be
-
No preference here, lol. Thermal vent literally makes my sun strike weaker.
-
Don't see how, I laugh watching them burn and sunspot killing them, double dot damage on them, oh well GL lol
-
No offense dude, but get some reading comprehension please. The very first reply i literally said that thermal vent only applies the burn damage to the main enemy I melee. No other damage other than the burn. So literally just the 4ish ticks of 7 are delta to said person.
-
Grenade dot plus sunspot double dot damage on the others, sorry shoulda said grenade. The explosion dot only effects first target sure but if he dies it creates a sunspot, so if you already got a grenade effect burn on them it doubles up and almost guarantees them dying
