My Spindle hits for 160k with weapons and tether. So only being like twice that damage under the same buffs really isn't that impressive. Still, supers are for adds and generating orbs. Not for sustained boss dps

  • So... yeah, but what's keeping me from blasting off GG shots and coming right back to my spindle? I mean so far all I've heard is a comparison of Spindle dmg and GG dmg, but it's not like you have to choose one or the other. Way I see it, if you have at least two hunters and a bubble in the squad, one of those hunters can be a Gunslinger for quicker and more powerful damage.

  • But then you factor in weapon swap and ready time. It's just not worth it to break a Spindle dps cycle for one gg shot thats barely more than a double Spindle shot. Plus it means speccing as a gunslinger, which offers zero benefit to a raid other than that one shot we've covered isn't really a big deal. I agree that there are times when a quick burst is necessary. Like the first time I did oryx, we had a gg hunter who would help stagger him. But it's very situational.

  • But take into account a boss like the Sisters. My Golden Gun shot did 370K without tether and 498K with tether. My Spindle only does 24K on sisters without tether. For me, it makes sense to use Golden Gun.

  • Weapon swap? Like when you run out of Spindle ammo and switch to another weapon? Seriously, it wouldn't take that long to habe your spindle ready, pop the super as you run to the aura, fire off either one celestial or 3 to 4 GG shots, spindle up, land all precision with spindle, swap to others if needed. If all that takes too long for soneone's team to complete any boss on the raid? Then there's no helping that team anyway. Everyone talks up spindle and ToM like they're god weapons. I've done every one of those bosses just fine with other snipers and reload perks. With GG's buff, it's more than viable to use now.

  • Haha sure. Whatever floats your boat. Not like golgoroth is hard any way, so min/maxing is pretty pointless. But I get your point. It's just not one that really has to be made given the context of a sustained dps fight that's already painfully easy.

  • Point is it can be one more thing to add on top of the regular dps. Everytime I run a raid there's always at least 2 or 3 hunters. Which is fine with all tethers but gets redundant. GG also excels in other areas of the raid outside of dps. The orb eaters at oryx is just one example. It can make dealing with that 4th knight a non issue every time. Not saying any of this can't be done with out GG. Fourth knight to me is easily dropped with a well placed sniper shot of course, the ogres can be handled without it, daughters are fine without it. Knights at Warpriest can be handled easily without it. But NOW that GG isn't just an absolute dumpster fire for damage, we can actually help kill some of those things quicker. Where before, we couldn't. I never really worry about spamming orbs in KF because 9/10 times there's at least one titan in the group, and usually a tether. That's plenty there. Sure it won't out-DPS what spindle or sleeper or something can do per second, but those will run out of ammo. Having a hunter with both can't do anything but help.

  • Your spindle is probably also 335. Assuming that I was 335 during the test and with the most ideal damage increases, I'd probably hit just shy of 500k with Deadeye + Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun. The test wasn't aimed at saying that Golden Gun was amazing for the encounter. I just wanted to see what it's maximum potential was since it is technicially the strongest single instance damage super in the game.
