Yes. Aiming the gun is easy
Yes. The range can be annoying
Yes. Almost anyone can use it effectively from day 1
But being a GOOD shotgunner isn't easy. Top tier shot gun players have immense skills in movement, pressuring opponents, and split second decision making.
I'm not defending shotgunners because I am one. Most people who know me, know that I snipe 99% of games. But it's kind of bullshit to discredit the skill set of another player.
I personally find using shotguns effectively very hard due to my passive nature, so when people make the statement that they take "no skill"... well I must just suck really bad. Right?
Watch the video, actually listen to my argument, then debate it all you want.

Shotgunning isn't easy. I'm not an amazing PvP player by any means, but to me shotguns like any other gun in the game are situational IMO. In the raid, in IB, Crucible or whatever, your build or what you want to run for the situation may dictate your gun choice. Subclass, and the map layout are examples of why I might run a certain combo over another and I may change weapons and subclass or even subclass layout, based on the map. I usually run a sniper as a secondary. I have a full auto 335 Two to the Morgue shotty, that I like to use on my Defender or on my BladeDancer. I also really like the Lord of Wolves, but I'm bad with shotguns so I like them full auto. I also like certain fusions. In general I tend to lean towards high rof weapons over impact but I'm learning the skill it takes to use slower rof higher impact weapons. I tend to be middle of the pack in most PvP matches around 12-18 kills per match.
