Yes. Aiming the gun is easy
Yes. The range can be annoying
Yes. Almost anyone can use it effectively from day 1
But being a GOOD shotgunner isn't easy. Top tier shot gun players have immense skills in movement, pressuring opponents, and split second decision making.
I'm not defending shotgunners because I am one. Most people who know me, know that I snipe 99% of games. But it's kind of bullshit to discredit the skill set of another player.
I personally find using shotguns effectively very hard due to my passive nature, so when people make the statement that they take "no skill"... well I must just suck really bad. Right?
Watch the video, actually listen to my argument, then debate it all you want.

Bearbeitet von YeBlunts: 5/11/2016 5:25:03 PM"Its not easy" Its still easier than fusions or sidearms...? So wow shotguns are the 3rd hardest to use out of 4? Arguably 4th? Secondaries are easier to get kills with than primaries so its really only heavy that is easier to use than shotguns

9 AntwortenTop tier isn't easy no matter what your preference is...

"Split second decision making" just pushing up on the left stick is about all a shotgunner needs to know for decision making.

To all those saying shotguns are easier because they get more kills, I think they miss a nuanced point. You really need to compare the k/d of the times when you engage another player. With a sniper, you can engage from so much further out that you can get more kills per encounter but you also engage less frequently. With a shotgun, you are going to be seeing other players much more often because you are actively chasing them on your radar. This gives you the opportunity for more kills.

Lmao I didn't realise who posted this until I finished reading it and thought "Video? Oh god here we go" Then I realised lol

Good video, good post. Kudos to you sir. Is it easier than some guns to use? Yeah. But towards the end of the video he made a great point of "if you die, it's a mistake that you made somewhere and they out played you". I dig that, Good shit man!

I think it's easy

19 AntwortenI completely agree with you. A lot of people complain because they can't acknowledge that there's more than one way to win, and at the center of it, winning is what this game is about. I posted this yesterday, but each secondary has its own skill base: Snipers have to know how to control the map from afar, knowing LoS. It's a bonus if they are aggressive, but aggressive pushes with sniping are rarely a viable strategy, as few people can effectively do it. Fusion Rifles require great cornering skills, knowing how to time their charges as they round the corner. As well as intuition of other player reaction.. Shotgunners require quick off-the-cuff reaction speed. Also, they have to be the master of movement, knowing how to move quickly and efficiently while maintaining little visibility. Even Sidearms have a niche.(Sorry, never used one) All of these are skill-based weapons. Anyone that disagrees generally has a hard time acknowledging their own ignorance and wants everyone to bend to their tactic.

Shotgun= easy mode. Ya pleb

1 AntwortenAlmost impossible in the age of the incredible melting auto rifle
-
5 AntwortenMovement is key. I got lucky with the two-kill shot, but the move to line it up was magic.
-
6 AntwortenSniping is way easier
-
Effectively using shotguns takes skill, I don't respect the shitkids who whore OP strats and use it as their primary though
-
All about the side arm action.

I've gotta say I find using a shotgun easier than a sniper in some situations, and when done well, the up close and personal game suits me better. Also I think it's totally dependent on who your up against. A skilled, highly experienced player is not going to allow a rushing shotgun to invade their personal space too often. Yet some people seem to get the jitters when your charging them down. All in all, both take some degree of practice and skill
-
All secondary's take skill to use I like fusions in crucible
-
2 AntwortenEveryone is agreeing becuase this is mtashed.
-
Yeah I've been using them since dark below and I basically got guilted into sniping. Sniping someone is more fun however

16 Antworten(Let's assume that the word "shotgun" translates to conspiracy theory D or Party crasher) Ok. Technically your arguments are accurate. Anyone can pick up a shotgun and do well with it. But there is a huge difference between your average blueberry and top teir players. Although I don't think this is to do with any lack of gunskill. It's because your average blueberry doesn't know how to move effectively, and has a lack of map knowledge and technical knowledge (effective range, the effect of armor pieces etc) Take Lumi for example. Not only is he a master of evasive play, he also has exceptional map knowledge and awareness. He knows exactly what the effective range of his shotgun is and uses movement and map knowledge to get himself into the perfect range and then blasts faces off. Personally, I'm a sniper main. (To the point where I ran NLB + another sniper in the crucible for 99% of all matches I played) and I also play extremely aggressively at times. To my great surprise I found myself constantly mown down by shotguns.
i was never surprised...
Needless to say, I got pretty good at maintaining a 1.7 to 2.5 kd in most h games (which had since dropped to a 1.4 because of sweat lobbys that aren't friendly to snipers) and I also got very good at moving myself into good positioning. Now. I run a shadestep nightstalker with better control bones of Eao. About as nimble as you can be. So explain to me this: last iron banner when I chucked on Conspiracy Theory that I went on a three game streak of having 3.5+kd (one of the games was a 5.7 I think) before taking it of in pure disgust of how easy I found it to net kills.

Its easy for me being a crucible player that is good all round with most guns. I can sidearm, shotgun, fusion rifle and snipe <- (my best skill)

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Animal Mother: 5/11/2016 4:56:02 PMA little off topic, but maybe some shotgunners can answer this question for me... If I have a shotgun with max range, will shot package increase that range or is it a useless perk when the range is already maxed? Edit: I meant rangefinder but it was answered nonetheless with it only adding 5% more range.

Every class has an ability/exotic to close small distances almost immediately Securing shot gun skills very easily Yes it takes skill, but so did tying your shows when you were 2. Sniping at least requires you to hit a head shot on a moving target at various distances
-
1 AntwortenBut it isn't hard either...
-
You're right it's really really easy.
-
When using a shotgun, movement is key. You can sit in a corner and camp all day long but you're not going to get as many kills. Using a Sunbreaker, I titan skated around the map at what felt like the speed of sound ambushing people with my universal remote. went 25-4.

Bearbeitet von MGB: 5/11/2016 3:30:55 PMIt's easy for me... Then again, so is using every other weapon type. I am a firm believer that it's the player, and not the weapon. I'm not too sure why you made the effort to create this thread, or even make a video about it, because people who think that a weapon takes no skill to use will always think that. Sad, but true. I didn't watch the video, but I'll upvote for the thread alone.
