Yes. Aiming the gun is easy
Yes. The range can be annoying
Yes. Almost anyone can use it effectively from day 1
But being a GOOD shotgunner isn't easy. Top tier shot gun players have immense skills in movement, pressuring opponents, and split second decision making.
I'm not defending shotgunners because I am one. Most people who know me, know that I snipe 99% of games. But it's kind of bullshit to discredit the skill set of another player.
I personally find using shotguns effectively very hard due to my passive nature, so when people make the statement that they take "no skill"... well I must just suck really bad. Right?
Watch the video, actually listen to my argument, then debate it all you want.

Most of the time I think you bring up some good points, Mike, but... Just shut up, man. You didn't say you were required to be a good shotgunner, and the simple fact is that the shotgun is by far the easiest weapon to do average with.
-
To be completely honest I don't think using shotguns is hard or takes skill but I think it takes skill to win a fight between two shotgun users with amazing timing.
-
Your first 3 points prove it is easy. You should have titled this post, "Top Tier shotgunning isn't easy"

11 Antwortenwhat's dumb is when people discredit other players for using a sniper, or mida, or doctrine. I could understand last word (pre nerf) but all of those weapons take skill to use and are entirely balanced.

79 AntwortenIt's about time someone on YouTube found the definition of diversity. All I have to say is that, no, I am not a famous YouTuber playing sweaty matches online, I play for fun. I don't understand how people can stand doing the same thing over and over. I also don't understand how people have the patients to camp. But what I do know, is the game as a whole. Go look at my profile and tell me I haven't don't something I this game other than go on a 25 kill streak. I play this game for what it is. I have played countless hours and he one thing that I can't stand is Crucible. This is because everyone is an asshole doing whatever it takes to be better. I understand that's the point, but I'm talking about the poeple who do nothing but worry about virtual stats for something that won't matter 3 years from now. People are willing to use the cheapest parts of the game to make sure they look good on Bungie.net. That might be your thing, but you are ruining the PvP community one game at a time. If you are the kid who abused thorn, you're one of these assholes. If you abused Mida, you're one of those assholes. If you abused Last Word, you're one of those assholes. If you are currently using a sniper for anything other than long range, you're one of those assholes. Again, look at my profile (not bragging about stats). I'm not that scrub who abused anything. I play with diversity because this game is meant for diversity. You can't tell me I haven't used a gun or subclass . I've literally used every combo possible. I have learned to play every playstyle. So let me tell you this, I think I'm able to tell you what is what in this game. Not trying to be a power listing dick, I'm just saying I'm one of the few who has actually played from every perspective in this game. I can tell you this. Shotguns used to be easy, now they have their place. They don't now down any primary anymore. Fusion Rifles used to be easy, now they aren't mowing down primaries at scout rifle distance. Auto Rifles used to dominate the crucible. Until recently, they haven't been up there. With the exception of two Autos, they are in the right place. Pulse Rifles were lacking when the game came out, now they have found their spot after a round of having the meta spotlight. Hand Canons used to have their time, now, they can't hit anything. The only hand cannon I have found that can consistently hit what it's aiming at is the Zouhlis Bane. It might have aweful reload speed, but it will hit wherever you shoot at. Snipers have always been in the spotlight. When the game came out, Bungie said quick scoping was a myth and people bought into it. The shots have always gone right down the middle regardless of being shot. You might see your reticle bounce, but your gun does not move. It took almost 4 months for people to find that out. Now, everyone realized how easy it was to snipe so that's what everyone does. All specials take their time to find out how they work, but snipers are by far, the easiest, and most reliable of the four. All you have to learn is where your screen centers and then line that up and quick scope. That's literally what everyone does, yet no one realizes they are the only weapon class that reliably shuts down any primary. Sometimes, Sidearms can outgun primaries, but only at close range and luck. I am proud that Mtashed has finally came out and said it. But don't get me wrong, Snipers are still up in the spotlight. If you don't think Snipers are to easy, go look at the stats. In Trials, the weapon type with the most kills is by far Snipers. Outnumbering all primaries, abilities, and Supers. If Snipers aren't being to reliable, why are they outrunning primaries in every gun fight? There has to be something wrong. People need to realize that when a game like Destiny isn't Diverse, there is something wrong. It doesn't mean that everyone using Snipers is a scrub, it just means that you are currently using the easiest weapon to use. Why not try and fix this? People on the forums are declaring Sniping to be harder than shotguns, this is false. Go watch the above video. The so called King of Destiny (No Offense) has shown his inability to close the gap because he no longer has the reliable weapon that can just do shotguns work at longer ranges, and even at shotgun range. Snipers need to have their place, right now, they are a versatile one shot weapon usable at close, medium, and long ranges. It's almost comparable to Battle Rifles in Halo if they could one shot. Removing the abilty to quick scope or snipe at medium ranges needs to be done. It's the only Special that effectively takes out primaries in their own ranges. Don't like it, look at the numbers. I'm not coming here with Bias. I'm just trying to fix a game what needs to be fixed.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Giganaut: 5/11/2016 11:20:17 PMIts easy once you get use to the distance needed to slay people. As a sniper, I'd say its the easiest weapon besides the rocket launcher lol to do well with. Point shoot and they die, just gotta judge distance and be able to aim in effectively when needed, pretty helmet weapon, theres a reason all the pros abuse it.

Lack luster post. Wish I could edit videos as well as you.

I'll pass on all those things, and instead ask, who in thee blue hell, are you?

5 AntwortenEvery sniper is skilled. for every skilled shotgunner, there are 1000 no skilled, invisible, corner camping, blink jumping noobs
-
When it comes down to it, a player who is top tier can effectively do both. The best players can adapt.

Its in the game. Its supposed to be used.

I don't feel using a shotgun is easy, however I do feel it's a bitch move. We are here to fight, earn it, prove you are better than I at shooting on another, not getting as close as humanly possible and firing. There are 2 sides to this, I like to use both so I don't have a problem with it if you are using your primary and the ahotgun as a secondary. But to run in circles around the map with a shotgun is a bitch move and always will be.

10 AntwortenEvery map in Destiny is designed for close range combat, this combined with every character class having abilities to help close space easily makes shotgunning easy to do. Mtashed you may not like it being said but Destiny caters to a shotgun playstyle, making it the easier thing to do in comparison to other special weapons.

But it shore is fun!!! Oh wait, I thought you said pimp'n ain't..... Never mind

shotgun is for noobs in halo it's the same

Bearbeitet von contra_reality: 5/11/2016 9:48:14 PMThe shotgun has a easier learning curve but the mastery slope is steeper since there is greater risk involved. Generally, shotguners will get more kills but have lower k/d than snipers because of this. Basically, anyone can get kills with a shotgun, but it's much harder to do consistently well with a shotgun especially against good players, i.e. do better than simply trading most engagements.
-
Shotguns take skill, but very little skill. The only shotgun that takes more skill than most is the chaperone.

Is this "satire" again? Or some juvenile equivalent?
mtashed is a masterbaiter
It isn't quite as easy as equipping it, but shotguns are more straight-forward and more fun to use, especially if you're a Titan or Warlock. I like to think my Titan thrives in cqb and my Warlock's Shotgun-like melee range is pretty healthy. It isn't quite as fun to sit back and wait with a sniper, and all fusion rifles but Plan C are inconvenient for popping a surprise Bladedancer.

2 AntwortenAs a shotgunner, I have to say it's kind of the asshole loadout (I mean c'mon, people are gonna get pissy over getting one shotted no matter what) but at least we don't end the match covered in a thick layer of moss.
