Its a little long of a read but long story short, bungie/activision care for nothing but money when it come to creating new content
So. Ill start off by saying that I am a year one player since day one, despite all the lies that were made, atrocities and hate this game have generated, I was alright with that. I was alright with having to spend 20 dollars for new dlc that was worth 5 bucks, and i was alright with doing the same stuff over and over again for 12 months. But now i draw the line.
None of my friends play destiny, and i finally got one poor soul to buy destiny, but he wasnt sure if he wanted to buy ttk, so he bought vanilla destiny for about 30 bucks. I thought nothing of it and thought he would be able to just buy the digital copy of ttk if he ever wanted to. Well, now he wants to, and I told him that it will cost him 40 dollars, as it did for me, and he was alright paying for that which was all cool, so he bought a 50 dollar xbox card and put it onto his xbox one. He goes to purchase the digital version of the taken king, when he was halted by a message from bungie.
Now in my opinion, this is messed up and a HUGE scam for money on bungie/activisions part, but anyways. In order to buy the taken king digital edition for 40 dollars YOU MUST purchase the dark below and house of wolves. I dont know about you guys but I dont think we were ever informed that we'd need both previous expansions to play the taken king, in fact the only place i see where it says that is in fine print for the taken king digital purchase after scrolling down about 5 paragraphs.
What the hell?! This is a huge stab in the back for ANYONE not wanting to spend 80 bucks on the legendary edition. It basically is saying that hey, we don't care if you want to just try the game, either you go balls deep and pay 80 dollars, or you are boned and have to pay 130 collectively instead. No one EVER plays dark below, or house of wolves story missions anymore, prison of elders is a joke, the weapon and gear are completely useless anyways, and crotas end isn't worth doing for ANYTHING. So why the hell does my friend have to spend 40 EXTRA dollars ontop of another 40 just to play the latest version of destiny???
So i will sum it up for you, in case you didn't want to read it all. My friend bought a 50 dollar card for ttk, found out he couldn't buy it because he needs the dark below and house of wolves. Now, because he doesn't want to spend ANOTHER 50 on an xbox card just for 2 useless expansions, so he is stuck with 50 dollars that he would have never boughten had he known that ttk would require the other two expansions.
Sorry bungie but that is 100% a money scam do not argue it, and a slap in the face to players wishing to just try the game. 80 dollars is already waaaaay too much for this game, and 130 is completely unacceptable for someone who didn't start until year 2

have a look @ WoW about 5 "dlc" are out and every time they rise the max level about 10+ and the old shit gets just worthless every season and no one cries
-
If you want to see real money grabbing buy Star Wars battlefront
-
For profit business only interested In money...what has this world come to...
-
legendary edition is $60 and was $40 all past weekend. Your friend is ignorant to not have looked for deals.
-
We were informed of the fact that we needed the two previous expansions prior to the release of the Taken King. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but how is it scam that you and your friend didn't read the information provided to you by the company you are trying to purchase a product or service from?
-
Here's what he should have done. Buy the game used for $10-15 used. Like it? Good, now sell that used copy for $10-15 and buy the legendary TTK edition. You and especially your friend should have spent 10 minutes researching what the options were.
-
So your friend was too ignorant to read before he bought the wrong thing, you were too ignorant to help him out and explain something you should have known, and somehow that it's Bungies fault? Yeah, seems legit.

It's called a Job and dedication to a game.

Bearbeitet von OnlyAlfredo: 12/2/2015 3:55:11 AMThe legendary edition had all 3 DLCs and base game.. So really, this isn't Bungie's fault, but your friend's.

Bearbeitet von SK8ITUP53: 12/2/2015 2:11:20 AMOr spent 60 on the regular ttk disc that had all 3 dlcs anyways.... just saying. Plus they did tell us. And honestly they charge less money than buying a call of duty game every year, and we got a lot more than 5 multi-player maps for 20 bucks a pop like cod. 2 years with season passes for cod as follows: 60 per game x2 = 120. 40 per season pass x2 = 80. Or even 50 per year without the pass = 100. So your looking at 200 bucks at least for 2 years of game, if not 220. People need to think about things a little harder.

Get him to refund/switch to TTK physical copy if he can, if not, trade or give as a present, then use the money for the copy. Maybe he is put off at this point, but just trying to help if he isn't. GameStop, being right before Xmas should have a deal where he won't have to spend any extra. (Hopefully)
-
Everyone knows this, it says in the box and in Microsoft/psn store when buying the game.....
-
Stopped at, "it's a little long of a read...."
-
I bought ttk with the bundle so I started playing ttk when it was released. The ttk game (not digital) came with every dlc from year one. If your friend would have bought a copy of the game(not digital) I'm pretty sure it would have came with all the old dlc so he wouldn't need to buy any old dlc.
-
Any day one player knew this. Why didn't you know?
-
Most games have previous dlc as prerequisites for current dlc, not sure why this is such a shock. If anything be mad at the fact that an overpriced $40 dlc makes even less of the game worth playing....lol.
-
Everybody knows it, and he could've got legendary edition for 69 with destiny and all DLCS
-
I got to the part where it says he was halted. Before TTK was released, Bungie said that you MUST have TDB and HoW to buy the standalone digital version of TTK.
-
You could buy Destiny, TDB, HOW and TTK all in one package for only $35 from Walmart or Target
-
Why didn't you just tell him to buy the legendary edition when it was $35 on Black Friday?
-
I can't read well so I stopped reading right before you made a point and asked a question.
