Down/up has little to do with lag. It's latency and jitter.

They are the base for an Internet connection. Look at it this way: if you speak too soft or I can't hear you, the conversation can't really happen.

Most lag you see is from latency, not download/upload speed. Online gaming only uses about 200mb an hour, which doesn't take much down/up speed. I'd much rather game on a 5/1 10ms connection, than a 100/20 100ms connection. You want high download speed for watching Netflix, download files, stuff like that. You want low latency for online gaming. Then throw in Jitter, which is where the red bar spikes come from.

This is true. Your initial reply was just a little short/open ended so I figured I'd add for the benefit of those who do not know the technical aspect of Internet... Excuse me we're in the Destiny forum... Gaming technical aspects. It's nice to see posts on here that aren't ISP bashing, Wikipedia-copy/pastes, or just straight ignorant.

Yup I get tired seeing the "I have 250/50 Internet, bungie fix your game" post, when speed barely plays a role in your connection.

Very rarely do complainers also take into account that their packets of information travel a great distance, with many jumps to get to the server they need to. So many things can go wrong in between sending/receiving that it may not be "Bungie's fault" or even your ISP's fault. For those following, I won't confuse you with the process, but one helpful trick to perform when you're experiencing difficulties is called a Traceroute. Google it if you're interested. It will show you if, and where about your packets hit problems.
