Luke, why the fûck are you nerfing Year 1 into fûcking oblivion? Does Year 1 make you feel inadequate when compared to TTK? Did you blow your load too early? Should Year 1 content have come later? Why is Bungie a bunch of wankers?

I got on today to do the last Weekly Strike and try out that Rift thing in the Crucible. Man... This is just sad... I think what is really going on is that the base game, what was originally developed back when Joe was still involved with things, has finally run its course. All of what made this game great, all of the previous ideas and creations that went into it, all the stuff that was used to create the vanilla, Dark Below and House of Wolves, etc. They've run out of it. And Year 2 is basically their attempt to create new things for the game. And sadly, the magic is just gone. The passion, imagination and determination which was there before driving the development of this game doesn't exist anymore. Just... Horrible... I played one game of Rift which was unable to hold my interest in the least, and I just up and turned the whole game off. Couldn't bring myself to stay on any longer than that. Killing Year 1 Perks. Nerfing Weapons. Making Year 1 Legendaries/Exotics Obsolete. Enforcing a Level 34 Cap on those choosing not to buy the product. Locking Endgame Content behind Paywalls. Creating an even BIGGER Grind Fest than before. No. Unless they start doing something drastic, instead of trying to consistently try and punish those who are not continuing to buy the expansion in an attempt to force sales? Then this franchise is just dead. And they wanted it to last 10 years? Heh... Not likely...

Seriously. They are scared shitless with Year 2 being compared to Year 1. Why else nerf all that gear and content into the ground? Why invent ascension and remove the very next DLC? Bungie is a one trick pony. TTK better fûcking sparkle or this exodus could be bigger than the one Moses led.

Honestly I don't even think that will really be enough to stop the "End Times" from coming upon this game. The only way that could work is if they sucked it up and admitted to themselves that they -blam!-ed up big time and start immediately undoing their mistakes. Apply Infusion to all Year 1 Weapons/Armor, both Legendary and Exotic. Remove the Level Cap so ALL Players can reach lvl 40, with or without TTK. Fix the Broken Year 1 Perks. Bring back the Hopscotch and anything else that got wasted. Undo the PvE Damage Nerf on Shotguns. Remove the Paywalls that are holding hostage content players already paid for. Very simple things for them to do that would make everyone feel better and keep with the game.

I think they either know Year 2 gear is shit or don't want to take the chance of it being shit. I mean, the gear is such a big part of what makes new content exciting. Now, imagine if they allowed Year 1 ascension and players tried out Year 2 gear, found that it sucked, and went back to Year 1 gear. Bungie would have no way of skirting the fact that part of what people paid for sucked so much ass that players refused to use it. Holy shit, what if the content sucked? What if players went back to playing Year 1 content and mostly ignored Year 2 content. That'd be a fûcking catastrophe for Bungie. Bungie wants no part of that.
-
If that is indeed the case, then its rather pathetic that they have already reached their limit of creativity. Was Joe and Marty really THAT crucial to the development of the game? If so, they -blam!-ed up BIG TIME when they lost those two.
-
I mean, it's not like there's no precedence for this. Remember HoW vendor weapons? A bunch of mostly forgettable guns that few people gave a shit about.
-
I blame Reforge for that, honestly. If all you have to do is just sit there and consistently re-roll over and over again to get the perfect combination of perks that you want, the weapons lose a LOT of personal character and it shows just how lazy the developers are being. They're basically avoiding taking any real responsibility for weapon design by pushing it all off onto the players.
-
Reforging? Maybe. Bullshit, lazy, horrible, terrible perks on HoW gear? Absolutely.

*Nods* Shank Burn. Nuff said, lol

Shank Burn vs Dreg burn. What's better? Apart from that, the death of Destiny has been announced too soon on your part. I seriously do not believe that this game will disappear, just because there is a pay wall. They are to be expected for such a hybrid game, and aren't wrong ethically imho. The problem I see is much rather the lack of communication, and the complete disregard of player commitment concerning gear. This is not solely an RPG. This isn't purely an FPS. And it definitely isn't an MMO, given our standard definition, but picks up some elements, like a shared world. You simply cannot bring a stat stick design philosophy into a shooter. When you find a better stat stick in an RPG, there's no reason not to use it. It has better stats. Doing that with guns, which you fire in the first person perspective, and where each gun handles slightly different, is simply a no go. The gun is not just a stat stick. It has its own feel to it, which you adapt to (or not). I still remember not being able to hit anything with my Thorn when I got it, because the sights were so weird, for example. Or dismantling every high RoF LMG I get, because I suck with that archetype as a whole. Disrespecting the player base and not honouring their commitment, while never communicating effectively and driving away casuals from the game with some completely ridiculous game changes, are a much bigger thread for Destiny than pay walls. At least that's how I see things.
