So you don't think having an accurate perspective of reality that makes a person take the all implications of a course of action into account is a good thing?
You'd rather have blind support to a cause regardless of the motive and possible outcomes? You're a moron.
And you're in fact advocating your own version of political correctness. Hypocrite.

You're reading into this too deeply. I would simply like to see people pointing out evil where it's at, rather than pussy-foot around it. The government has a duty to help inform the populace. Don't get me wrong, propaganda has its limits. I'm not entirely sure you understand what I said.
-
I understand fine. You want to see media used as a weapon more than it already is.
-
Bearbeitet von Tiber of Astora: 8/24/2015 3:06:35 AMGovernment propaganda that points out evil and instills a patriotic pride isn't bad. Propaganda that is used to control the populace is bad. Like I said: it has its limits. Example: This propaganda short depicts nazism as it was. It contrasts the government propaganda of Germany. It exposes Germany's use of propaganda as a controlling factor rather than an informational medium like what the short is acting as to americans of the time.
-
The same could be said for -godwinslaw!- propaganda.....
-
I'm saying -godwinslaw!- propaganda depicted Hitler and the party like a god whereas american propaganda exposed nazism.
-
Propaganda is a can of worms to be avoided. Let the truth speak for itself.
-
Propaganda doesn't have to be government controlled, simply pro-national interest.
-
The person who creates the propaganda is who determines what "pro national interest" is, and that concerns me.
-
There is cause for concern, but things like what Walt Disney did aren't in any way negative.
-
Actually it is. That video is doing the very thing its showing to be against; indoctrination of children. You don't fight indoctrination with more indoctrination.
-
Indoctrination? That's a subjective term. I'd call it informational.
-
If it were informational it wouldn't be animated and geared directly at children.
-
Is Dorah the Explorer not helpful?
-
Of course. But dora isn't trying to persuade children to fall into a certain opinion about other people.
-
Bearbeitet von Tiber of Astora: 8/24/2015 1:27:14 PMWould you consider Disney's opinion of -godwinslaw!- a bad thing?
-
No, but I do consider them trying to push that opinion onto children through targeted media a bad thing. Like I said, the truth will speak for itself. I didn't need to see an animated film to learn -godwinslaw!- are bad, I only needed to read a history book.
-
Bearbeitet von Tiber of Astora: 8/24/2015 1:59:23 PMBut this was geared towards children. They won't or can't read history books.
-
Bearbeitet von Britton: 8/24/2015 2:15:03 PMIf a child is too young to read about and comprehend nàzi Germany then they are too young to worry about it.
-
Yeah because a fascist dictatorship that kills innocents and wants to take over the world isn't something for everyone to worry about.
#sarcasm
-
Bearbeitet von Britton: 8/24/2015 3:31:40 PMThere are things that small children shouldn't have to worry about unless necessary. One of those things is atrocities abroad. Let them be kids, when they're older they'll have the rest of their lives to concern themselves with that stuff. No reason to rush them into the evils of life.
