i've never seen this mentioned, but when you capture skolas in the last HoW story mission, do you notice that the pulsing mass on the back of his head/neck around those horns looks just like the 'brain god' worshipped by the vex in the garden?

Could be something as simple as Vex Gate residue, but I haven't noticed it
-
Could be, but I don't think so. Play the final HoW story level again...when he's defeated and crouched, look at his neck and back ...we don't see that distinctive shape/texture on any other character, ever, that I'm aware of.

Qodron and Zydron. And of course the Sol Progeny.

That's my point though, until Skolas no one has been seen coming from the Vex Networks but the Vex, seeing the black oozy air around them was considered normal. Now we have Skolas who has the same. The simplest answer is, it's just Vex Gate residue. It could be a tie to whatever the Black Heart was, but there's less supporting that.

Well, none of the minor vex soldiers have the 'residue' effect, and since the brain-god in the garden looks just like it, I'm tempted to jump to the conclusion that the mass is a parasitic extension of some other being.
