Everyone who really wants to get better should be watching their own gameplay if possible (PS4 players have no excuse as you can record entire matches). I generally watch games that I thought I did especially well in and in a lot of them I catch myself wondering "wtf was I thinking there?" or "wow, that was stupid of me". And other times I catch myself saying, "that was a smart play on my part" or "that was a good play but it would have been better if I did this instead". It's good to make notes of things you did/do poorly while reinforcing things you do well.

Mtashed said that in one of his videos!

Yeah, it's not exactly a new concept. If you wanna get better, you should see for yourself what you are doing wrong so you can better adapt. Unfortunately, this is not something everyone has access to. But for those who can, they should do it if they are really serious about getting better.

Honestly just remembering the stuff he says and thinks about helps me so much

I agree with all of that. I study my game film like I'm Destiny's Peyton Manning.

Disagree. I have reviewed numerous sessions of my own gameplay and it has not helped one bit. Improvements have always come from watching tips videos that others have created.

It helps some more than others. Here are cases in which it won't help you as much. BTW, I'm not saying you fall into any of these: - You don't know what you're doing wrong, it's pretty hard for you to identify and correct it. An example is that it's hard to see that your positioning is bad if you don't know what the correct or optimal positioning is. - You have poor natural ability such as hand-eye and reflexes. No matter how many times I see myself not reacting fast enough it doesn't make it any better. - You are defensive. Sometimes when I criticize myself I find myself explaining away my mistakes rather than just admitting that they are mistakes. That's something I've had to get over because it was simply getting in the way of me getting better. I have been trying to help a friend get better so I had him stream himself PvPing while I watched. What I saw is that he just didn't acquire targets fast enough so he's basically giving up half a second during gun fights. Sure, I can tell him to "get quicker" and "react faster" but that's not exactly going to do him much good. That said, there were some correctable things I did see like him walking around aiming down a bit too low. This caused him to take extra time to go for headshots. I saw him taking bad angles so I told him how to take better angles around obstacles. I also saw a lot of poor decision-making where he would rush into a fight unprepared or not run away when he should have. Those are correctable, but if you the knowledge to begin with it's going to be hard to get the most out of watching your own gameplay. Once you get to a certain point, you will have enough knowledge and know what not to do. That's when watching your own vids will help you. Maybe you'll start seeing where and how you tend to die and what you've done that was successful t prevent it. Maybe you start noticing what areas of the maps you have the most success and figure out why. Like I said, it won't benefit everyone the same amount but not trying it at all or giving up at it just results in losing opportunities to learn.

Great advice, man! THAT is smart thinking!

How would an Xbone player go about doing this? I'd like to review myself, but there don't seem to be too many options for me to do so.

Bearbeitet von Ice Lantern: 8/13/2015 3:25:47 PMIt sucks that you can only record 5 mins at a time instead of 15 like the PS4. It's one of the only things that makes me glad I got Destiny for the PS4 instead of the XB1. One option is to get a capture device like an Elgato or a Hauppauge but it can cost quite a bit and I don't know what other uses you would have for it. Another option is to try to record your matches at 5-minute interval but that might be distracting for you. It might just be best to just say "xbox record that" just before the end of your matches as well as something like every other time you die. You can also stream it Twitch and save the broadcast. Hope this helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnrkvIjWLvk

This is how you improve. More people need to put the effort into this.
