Are you really surprised, the only way to ever get into a position in the community is to get into the right circlejerks. As you and other people pointed out, the guy was a member of the same group that Deej was active in and obviously they knew each other, which obviously holds priority to things like his lack of activity on the mains of the site. Really, they did a similar thing with the majority of mods and mentors added recently, most of them knew the prior mods/bungie employees, some of the people that made mod I have hardly ever seen post in the mains, but they post in groups where mods/employees are at, ect.

All of the Mentors were taken from Bungie Q&A. You're exactly right. The ninjas and mentors of this website are an enormous hugbox. They're mostly decent people, but they flock around together.

I don't spend as much time here now as I used too. I took pretty much a hiatus for about a year and a half here, By Bungie Q&A, are you referring to the mailsacks that used to go on? I do know that upon coming back though, a few people who I have never seen in the mains when I was on somehow just became mod. For example Shacker, I never saw this person on Bnext really until they became a mod and looking on b.old, [url=http://halo.bungie.net/Search/default.aspx?q=Shurshacker&g=5&SR-p=1]this person only had 10 pages of posts going all the way back to 07.[/url] Really, I'm looking at my old accounts and I filled up 12 pages in about a span of 2 weeks of posting. However, this person was a member of the Workplace which I know was a group mods and employee's frequent.

The Workplace and Bungie Q&A are both groups. Bungie Q&A made a bunch of helpful stickies, while the Workplace is a 21+ group

Ah, I didn't know that Bungie Q&A was a group, I knew that for like the first round of mentors, they took people from that Welcoming Community group if I recall correct, I may be mistaken. But yeah, in the case like the mod I brought up and with the case with Cosmo, you can see that they're more worried about finding people from their inner circles rather than someone active in the community at large, which is screwed up.
