I'm not great. I know. I barely have over a 1.0 kd in skirmish but that's because of my early history in the crucible. I've gotten a lot better recently (practice) but in trials, I can barely compete. Why is there such a difference between the two?

Skirmish its typically a group of 3 randoms versus a group of 3 randoms. In skirmish there is really no strategy involved and the punishment for dying is low. You can more easily get some kills back. I would say trials is WAY more about the team than the individual players. That is why people who barely have a 1.0 K/D in trials (or less) and still manage to go flawless with a team of 2 others with a similar skill set. I only have a 1.3 K/D in trials and I have been flawless 15 times.
