As much as I agree with making it Exotic, the perk would still get nerfed. And it needs to be nerfed.

No, it doesn't. Destroying White Nail is just pandering to the NerfNazis, and is absolutely ridiculous for the reason they've stated. It isn't White Nail's fault the bosses are so easy to kill, it's Bungie for not knowing how to design boss fights. If people want to call for this to be nerfed, and that to be nerfed, they might as well replace every guardian's outfit with a plastic bubble, and make PVP a contest of attrition to see what player can stand bouncing off padded walls with a wet-down pool noodle the longest. Last person standing in the match doesn't get a permanent ban. It's just like Thorn, it doesn't need a nerf. Weapons need to be buffed up to compete with it.

  • It is actually White Nail that makes a boss so easy to kill. Infinite precision shots with what trade off...? Oh right, nothing. You lose nothing with Black Hammer, except that you can't use a different Secondary that will make the boss harder to kill. Every boss is, basically a shoot it fast and kill it, but each boss fight has a few mechanics, especially PoE, and White Nail effectively hammers all of them down. I don't see a point in arguing whatsoever for the case of Black Hammer because it's literally remaining the same, outside of you having to find ammo or pop a snyth. And why can't you do that? Because you're too busy sitting in one spot crouched infinitely shooting the boss? It's not bad boss design, as much as it is someone trying to kill a boss as fast as possible and getting pissy that they don't have an infinite bottomless clip, which is exactly what Black Hammer is before its nerf.

  • On the other hand, the supporters are usually the people who don't have the weapon, and want to ruin it for everyone else. You can't say it's not the boss design, because even Bungie said they made the strike and raid bosses easier after House of Wolves dropped. They made it public that they were making them easier to kill, lowering their health, changing the enemy dynamics. Bungie themselves allowed players to be able to just camp in one spot in Strikes/Raids and snipe away. They've been tweaking boss fights since The Dark Below released, because people were having trouble with the RNG system and the lack of skill-based reward system. Rather than fix their reward system, and the way gear was handed out to facilitate people being able to combat these bosses, which would have permanently fixed the issue, they instead resorted to reducing the bosses. Rather than changing the way rewards worked, like every other MMO in existence, they lowered the bar. Bungie created this problem. I know the bosses are the problem, because the final fight in Cerberus Vae III was one of the hardest fights for me to do, even with a competent fire team. Just before House of Wolves dropped, and with the nerf to Valus Ta'aurc's overall health and the way enemies spawned, I can sit comfortably with Icebreaker behind the barricade just after you enter the hangar and pick him off, while somebody with Gjallarhorn keeps his attention from under the stairs. I know the boss design are the problem, because I exploit the problem myself. This is a strike I enjoyed because of its difficulty, and I am reduced to exploiting a cheese just to get the strike over with and get my 2% chance of legendary gear. I don't even have Blackhammer, and I don't like the idea, simply because they aren't doing anything with the trivial difficulty of boss fights. The bottomless mag argument is ludicrous, as well. If I want a bottomless mag, I switch to Icebreaker and time my shots. One bullet every 6.82 seconds(.4-1.2s, plus or minus, allowing for lag and server communication): Plenty of time to line up precision damage, and it immediately returns that round to the magazine after it leaves the muzzle. I have sat on Omnigul and dropped her shield, and landed a headshot with perfect timing to keep her staggered and prevent her from using her abilities, slowly taking down her health. If she spawns Ads, I just switch to crowd control, change positions, rinse and repeat. I can repeat this strategy on any boss, as well, just from finding the right spot, and burn 2 or so hours of just mindlessly plugging rounds into things no more difficult to perforate than a Japanese paper-curtain with a nerf gun. Weapons don't need to be nerfed in PVE. Some of them need to be brought back up(auto-rifles, for example), and enemies need to get harder to kill. Being able to stomp through swaths of your foes and leave a bloodbath in your wake is impressive and entertaining, but doing it like an unstoppable badass isn't fun. I do it in Elder Scrolls, I've done it in Starcraft, World of Warcraft, WoT, and Destiny isn't supposed to be half-sale slaughter of our enemies.
