Hah! Had a similar emotional response as you when I read it: "Really? Someone from Reddit over someone from here? We are all betrayed!" But then the emotional response faded and the fact that I can't judge how well of a job he's going to do until he does it. He's an individual and should be treated as such. So, here's to hoping he's the unexpected choice who won us over by doing an amazing job as a community manager.

Yup. That seems to be the common theme. The old members are upset because we see him as a Destiny drone, and the new members are excited because they see him as a Destiny drone. Time will tell, my good friend.
-
Yeah, trying to see him as a person who hopefully wants to be great at his job. Also, your analogy about hiring an accountant to be chief of police is a bit off. He was already a community manager. It would be more like a cop from NY getting hired on as a chief in LA...

He ain't one of us, I tell ya

What exactly is one of us?

So let me ask you this: Where did Deej come from?
-
TTL. That's why he sucks
-
Fair point. But he was a member here as well. And that hasn't helped his popularity in his position either. I guess what I'm trying to say overall though is that it doesn't matter where you come from, it's what you contribute and achieve and this new guy deserves a chance to make his own misstakes and accomplishments. As for getting titles back, shouldn't we be taking that up with the webteam? Also, I think this is the most worked up I've seen you in a long time.

Tl;dr lol Just kidding. I need to vent occasionally.
-
Understandable. This is a big deal and you have invested a lot of time, energy, and emotion into this place trying to make positive changes here. Not easy to just accept some stranger in such a position of power around here, kinda scary even. But I'm here for ya if you need me buddy. Even if it is just to vent.
