UPDATE: 15TH AUGUST 2015
I have updated the video with NEW translations.
The final two clips show what the Silent Fang called us.
Will update the dictionary below in due course.

See below for my interpretation of a Fallen Dictionary of sorts.
I first posted this over on Reddit, but I figured I'd share my results here!
Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't yet ventured into the story missions. You've been warned!
Spent a good few hours figuring out the phonetics for Skolas' dialogue, and I believe I've translated fairly accurately all of Skolas' words; they might not be perfect, but it's a start! But thanks to Variks, we can now begin to roughly translate Fallen dialogue. I believe he gives us just enough variation on defined words to even begin to interpret generic Fallen mob dialogue, given context clues and the like.
I'm excited to begin to phonetically lay out sentences and match them up to the translations already provided. Perhaps we can discover even more lore as a result, straight from the horse's mouth.

I want to know what Taniks says when he does that long deep growl or whatever when you walk in the first room on the ketch during the new strike. Always thought that sounded badáss. You could probably get some more translations from Taniks.

1 AntwortenHow do you say "Git Gud" in Fallen?

-
Awesome job. Thanks for putting this together. I look forward to seeing what else you discover.

This is cool.

1 AntwortenI've heard the fallen say things. The vandels and higher ranking ones say something that sounds like (in a Scottish accent) "is this yer dey?" Apparently it is also used in the silent fang mission, varics says it's an insult. The dregs speak some broken English, I've heard the line "can't hide from me!" A few times before, should be familiar to any bungie fan over 10.

This is awesome

1 AntwortenBump for lates.

3 AntwortenSo assuming all this is true, I have a question. Fighting certain Fallen bosses can result in them repeating what sounds like "Lakshmee Isser". Taniks does it, Aksor does it, and I'm also pretty sure Riksis, the Devil Archon says it. What does it mean?
-
All I know is that whenever fallen leaders speak, their voices are so cool.
-
We cannot be told what the silent fang leader called us. It ia impossible because he never translated the words of the insult. He just said it was an insult.
-
2 AntwortenAgreed. This isn't Lord of the Rings. Bungie did NOT actually create an entire language just for random dialogue in small story missions. Sorry, but how can you think that they actually did? And if they REALLY did, don't you think the manpower behind creating such an intricate language system could have been BETTER used for story? Design? People have been arguing that Bungie is lazy, now we're all saying that they actually created a fictional language? What a joke. Waste of time, buddy.

3 AntwortenDude this is awesome. I love linguistics and have always wondered if bungie put much thought into the vocabulary if the fallen.,. What is it dregs are always calling us? Slotnik? Always wondered what that means.
