I'm unsure.
To me this place used to be a community. Now it feels more like strange place where you seldom recognize anyone. Good topics in any of their appropriate place just get washed away with ease from the loads of crap that people post in a mere matter of seconds or minutes if your lucky. I know the population has grown mainly because of incoming PS users and a new IP and if it wasn't for notifications topics would be pretty much be one and done with no actual conversations taken place. So many threads I don't even bother with any more with used to including here in the 7th column. Yeah we have this new found freedom but, I feel like that should be earned and ban hammers should be swinging more swiftly to take control. I know for myself when I first started here I was a jerk, but I started to play nice because of punishment. Now it's just an animal house. You can only block/mute/report so many people before another user will just take their place.
I'm hopeful that things will change once again, this time for the better, but my hope is running thin. My small voice only seems to be getting smaller in this vast ocean that once was a gentle lake.
EDIT: Just wanted to add. I think if title bars came back it would be an incentive for new comers to earn their keep when they see us grizzled ancients and old skool folks rocking some sweet gear they might think twice before acting like an idiot. Positive reinforcement does work and I'm confident it will work.

I believe Bungie said they got rid of title bars because it created an elitist mentality amongst some users. However, I would argue that the tenure has replaced that (it actually seems like it's worse than people with titles). I do agree that giving people that title bar did help some people stay on better behavior - to an extent - because they didn't want to lose that rank. It's a gamer mentality, you get something cool for doing good, so you're going to try to avoid losing it. Obviously it doesn't work for everyone, but I think for the masses who want to use the forums it will work. It seems like Bungie attempted to have a similar system by having your account linked to Destiny in order to be able to post in certain areas. "If you get banned on the forums, then tough luck, you can't find a team." If that's what they're going for, it kind of pressures people to be on better behavior, but it doesn't entirely work in my opinion.
