Goodbye TopGear. Hello whatever show they start up that replaces it.

Bearbeitet von WileEWolf: 3/25/2015 6:21:33 PMIt will still be Top Gear. Top Gear was around long before these three and the BBC indicates that its already strategizing its next arrangement. Plus, I read something (that I didnt fully understand) indicating that Clarkson sold the format of the "Top Gear" he developed to the BBC in 2012; I assume that means Clarkson formerly had ownership rights to that incarnation (segment types, catch phrases..etc.), but not anymore. My guess for the "BBC Top Gear" is that they do one of two things: 1) hire some big name celebrity to pull in ratings (jay leno or something) 2) They hire three young "nobodies" to get in touch with a new generation of car enthusiasts

Here's the problem: they've been the same hosts for a while now (virtually the entirety of the "new format" since 2002), and Clarkson since the late 80's. Can they change? Sure. But the majority of the comedy comes from the three idiots and not the show itself. And the show is 80% comedy. If the other two jump ship with Clarkson, the show will take a major hit. The show isn't going to die overnight, but it did just lose one of its limbs. Now it's just a question of if it'll bleed out, or get a nice shiny prosthetic.

Yeah, I was actually thinking who could possibly get me to watch Top Gear without the three... the only name I came up with is impossible: Boris Johnson (London Mayor). He would be amazing, but thats it. Top Gear USA got cancelled pretty fast. Im not sure how well Top Gear Australia is doing. Everything I have heard from Hammond and May says that all three of them will be leaving. Who knows, maybe Top Gear will bleed out and die like you say, and BBC will focus on "Fifth Gear" which I think they also own.

It's pretty funny watching them on social media. They've been very passive aggressive about it this entire time.
