Dear Bungie Team and Fellow Players,
I am writing to bring attention to a very disturbing incident that occurred during a recent game session. A player in the chat made several deeply inappropriate and harmful comments, including encouraging others to harm themselves by suggesting they slit their wrists, among other shocking remarks.
Such behavior is not only unacceptable but also highly dangerous, and it raises serious concerns about the safety and well-being of the community. I would like to ask both the Bungie staff and fellow players: do we find this kind of conduct acceptable in any context? Should a player who promotes such harmful actions still be allowed to participate in this gaming community?
In my view, a ban would be more than appropriate in this situation, as this goes beyond the boundaries of acceptable online behavior. I'm reaching out to inquire if Bungie plans to take action on such matters, as this seems to warrant serious consequences.
Thank you for considering this concern. I hope for a prompt response and appropriate measures to ensure the safety and respect of the player base.

5 RepliesEdited by tchakael: 9/17/2024 7:34:44 PMHi, Please use the in-game reporting tool or the report options in your game history inside your profile in the website or the companion app. That's how Bungie's security team can properly review all the information to take action in this situation. If you don't know how to report other players, this help article has a guide: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049497451-Report-Suspected-Cheating-and-Poor-Behavior I'll remove the link in your topic because the forum is not the proper place to report other players. Edit: Locking topic due to the multiple replies trying to trivialize behavior that is against Bungie's Community Standards and Code of Conduct.

4 RepliesMaybe you are still young enough that you have not heard it yet... "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" should be taught to every child before they ever see 8 years old. Has the gaming community seriously become this soft? i don't insult people in games unless it is friendly banter between friends but my skin is thick enough that a person can say whatever they want to me while playing a videogame and it simply has no effect on me. If the person continues jabbering in a negative manner then I simply bow out of the activity, block the individual and move on. it does not matter if the jabbering is directed at me or other players, it's more about just a negative annoyance. If a person is young enough that some fool telling them to 'commit self harm' effects them then they are most likely younger than they should be for playing a murdering game. If an older person is so emotionally unstable that they are heavily effected by the words of another gamer beyond simply blocking (no matter how immature that other person is acting and talking) then they really should consider another casual time wasting activity and possibly find professional help for their own issues.

2 RepliesYou must be new to gaming. The ELA clearly states not responsible for comments of online play. Block the person and move on. By responding to a troll and believing you are shocked only empowers them more. The person is not in your face. He is on a device you can mute or leave.

Block/report and move on. What is the point of this post?
-
2 RepliesI suggest you remove the image with the offending player's tag from your post as it's considered 'Name and Shame' and since that's a violation of the CoC, it could lead to you receiving a forum suspension. That said though, it is despicable behavior; I suggest you also report that player for their behavior and be sure to include your screen-cap in that report as well.

2 RepliesAh.. you must've been born after the early modern warfare/black ops days. Some people suck. Sticks n stones my friend. Sticks n stones.

29 RepliesIs this serious? I hope it's not serious. Words are words, mate. You let them have power; it's not inherent.

Block them and move on.

1 ReplyReport them. Literally all you can do. I’m glad you didn’t put their name here, cause then you would be the one getting in trouble, but keep in mind that there’s not really anything they can do if they dob’t know who you’re talking about, so report is your best shot

The Crossplay Revolution and its Consequences on Gaming have been disastrous…

Edited by PEREGRINE: 9/17/2024 6:02:25 PMAs Sun Tzu states in his second book. The Art of Gaming. He states that "when you cross play with other gamers whilst live streaming, their words have no power in the reality of your real life" "Only that power which you give it. A wise man that Sun Tzu...pity he was a Hunter main tho 🤣

unless you simply do as random strangers tell you, this isnt hurting anyone...

2 RepliesIf you’re able to, it could be worth reporting their behaviour to the platform holder as well as to Bungie. The link below is for Playstation as an example https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/account/ps5-report-behaviour/

1 ReplyEdited by Taejzon23: 9/17/2024 8:00:20 AMThey will definitely ban people. I had my doubts, until I logged in yesterday and literally had a thank you message for reporting a player. (With ban hammer symbol) Hope you get some closure guardian.

9 RepliesEdited by Dooodley: 9/17/2024 1:46:37 AMI used to play online games around 2000 so I'm used to it and I would perhaps not say that I miss it but someone getting upset resulted in a bunch of funny banter back in the day. It was also the outcome of people actually using mics back then. I'd much rather have someone say something wildly inappropriate from time to time than never having anyone say anything ever - which is what many games are like today. Now, there's of course a line for what's acceptable (mine was at you know what word and actual threats) but that line has been moved a lot by the snowflake/participation medal generation of today and I can never be sure of what's being reported these days. If someone for instance is mad and tells someone to K Y S I'm not taking that too seriously and I wouldnt take time out of my day to report it. Now, if someone on the other hand tried to harrass me, by constantly spamming me with messages and to the point that I thought it started to become annoying, I'd report. But that kind of falls in the same category of report as reporting someone for being AFK - you've simply become a nuisance and you're straight in my path. But hey, probably a different generation.

3 RepliesI like that the match you were in with the person they were on the bottom of the team. Why players act that way when they are the ones at the bottom, I'll never understand.

Personally I don’t care what people say to me in game… just report in game if someone says something you feel is bad -
2 RepliesIf you take issue within reason, report.

1 ReplyHarden up cupcake and go sit in your safe space if you find words offensive ! 😂

Kick or block them.

1 ReplyContext is everything, if theres a log of the events showing it went down as stated then a ban is justified. If the only evidence is hearsay ? He said/she said then no, they should be told its unacceptable, maybe a warning. There are far too many bad actors online and in Destiny including clans that have made false accusations in the past. Its why I would never use a mic. Unless Bungie logs text and voice chat, which I assume they don't its too open to abuse. Mute/ kick and go about your day.

People say crap like this on a semi regular basis more than you think. I don't think anybody here cares Because it's you can see the same crap on 4chan and if you don't believe me go there and see for yourself.
