HALO 2 Anniversary- Rumor or Fact?
In 2011 Microsoft and 343 industries released a remake of the original Halo called Halo: combat evolved anniversary. The game Featured a graphics engine much like that of Halo:Reach. It also featured a few new firefight maps and a remake of Halo 2's Ivory tower multiplayer map.
Microsoft has admitted that they have considered the release of a Halo 2 anniversary several times. It's been said the game will release early November of 2014 in celebration of it's 10th anniversary. As of now this is only rumor and no definate answer has been released.
Not much info about the game has been revealed. Hell, it might not even be in development but it's definately a game any diehard halo fan would love to see.
Halo 2 was the first halo game to introduce online play other than Halo:CE for PC.
The games online feature is no longer supported due to the fact that it is an original xbox title...
Face it, a lot of us miss playing halo 2 online and a remake of the game featuring a functional online experience would be a dream come true to halo fans. Is it possible that this is another reason for the game to be remade?
Microsoft's Phil Spencer stated that they time to time discuss a remake.

These were Spencer's words to IGN.
So is it really possible the game is in deveolpment and scheduled to release late of next year? Do you think a remastered version is right for the franchise? What new features would you like to see in a Halo 2 anniversary?

It doesn't need a remake. But hypothetically if they decided to make one anyway, it would have to contain the Halo 2 MP and absolutely nothing changed in gameplay.

I just hope if they do make, they fix the hell out of it. Remove all of that damn bullet magnetism, aim assist, 5+ meter sword lunge, and overall glitchiness. Doing something to make the campaign last longer than 4 hours on normal might help too. What it would be? More Arbiter missions? ODSTs on installation 05? The sheer size of Halo 1's maps and its hard to skip enemies made it considerably longer than Halo 2 even with its 15 missions of crap. Of course, you can't really implement something like that with a remake...

2 RepliesI'd like to see a Halo 2 Anniversary, including multiplayer (even though I barely got to play it at all online). However, 343 better not change any of the gameplay, glitches, etc. nor should they use the Halo 4 art design. Give Master Chief his Mark VI from Halo 2/3 (just slight variations in the armor) not 4 Mark VI and no mutant Elites please!

Well the right thing for the franchise would be to shut down 343i and burn everything they made or planed, before they do anymore damage to the good name of Halo.

I just hope and pray to god they DO NOT REMOVE THE ELITES IN MULTIPLAYER in halo 2 anniversary since I love the elites and always played as one in all the halo games they were playable!! so please 343 for the love of god Let the Elites stay playable in Halo 2 Anniversary!!!!

If they change anything but the graphics, it will be terrible. The glitches and the multiplayer are what made Halo 2 such an amazing game(not saying the campaign wasn't good). If they try to put Halo 2 as a type of expansion for the Halo that is out during its release, I don't think it will be a good idea. I'll still probably buy it either way, but I just want the original Halo 2 to have online again.

I don't think any of us will be surprised if an anniversary edition of H2 was released. It's easy money for 343, as they can easily monetize our fond memories of the original Bungie game for little work themselves. I think its a shame.

I thought it was already announced to be released on the 1 before Halo comes out.
