I’m all for a good time when it comes to the amount of small rivalries between close friends or close gaming buddies, however, when it turns into harassment or the belittling of a fellow player, it just always ends up being a line that should never be crossed.
There is a large group of players that return to the game of Destiny 2 just to relax and release some tension of their own day to day living situation, and sometimes, it’s not even just about releasing tension. It could just be having a good time in the long run or even short run, a somewhat “Mini getaway.”
For myself lately, I’ve been more and more harassed by players considering themselves to be either “Superior” or “Experienced” which has resulted me to shy away from this series that I am passionate about based off the increasing amount of harassment and although this is post is being sparked from my own recent personal experiences, it still does not make it okay by all means.
Just for a moment to anyone looking into this post, just think about your fellow player. People are losing family and friends to disease, violence, and much more. For a moment consider the person in a strike who isn’t moving as fast through the strike as you, or the person playing Gambit on your team that maybe dropped a bit more motes than other players, and of course, someone on your team in the Crucible who keeps peaking the same lane over and over. It’s okay to be understanding. It’s even just as okay to be accepting too.
Thanks for reading this post. I appreciate your time and I’m sure someone else will too.

Edited by KRoMXiTo: 8/2/2022 12:49:17 AMThe sad truth is: Being an *sshole, mean and nasty person while gaming is the way to go nowadays because is considered “cool” by the internet society. Thats it. Thats why i go with just friends to pve/raids. And thats why i never touch the crucible. There is NO need to deal with such people in a game.

4 RepliesI think it’s less a Destiny problem, and more society problem. If you are looking for nicer people to play with, friend me, and also invite me whenever, my friends are all very nice. Otherwise, many people feel entitled or just like to be better than others, it’s more a lack of confidence than anything else. I rarely meet people like that in game, but I do know they are there.

that my dear friend would be elitists of the destiny community i understand how you may feel but something has to change i agree with how you speak and how you feel about the subject but until bungie starts swinging the hammer like they did in halo. and for those of you who never been there in halo i am referring to the ban-hammer.

2 RepliesThe issue of being toxic to each other is not limited to this game or gaming in general. It’s our society. Nobody gets along or respects others points of view. Just look at the cesspool that Twitter is. It’s sad, but that is the way it is now.

Whilst I understand what you're saying do you ever think about the other players. You're using guilt trip tactics in your post. So look at this way. Maybe other person is a doctor and doesn't get much play time? Maybe they start work in 2 hours and want get thinks done quickly? No doubt the community has toxic players but at least look at from another perspective. If I make a lfg or join a lfg which says 'kwtd' everyone expected to know what to do. They want things done fast as they have other things to do. Last week I joined a DSC lfg they was teaching 3 people. I was in that raid for a few hours. -
You're always welcome in the Dark Zone.

Get a load of this society…

2 RepliesIt's funny too how the people who act all superior thinking they're go cool and awesome because they dedicate their life to a game as if that makes you a better person in real life or a successful person

37 RepliesEdited by nonchalantone: 7/30/2022 8:10:05 PM"KWTD, or get KICKED". That statement, sadly......sums up the majority of this community. "I'm checking stats".... You ain't my daddy.....*ahem*, are you??? Lol....

1 ReplyFind a nice clan. Not everyone on lfg is nice, and finding people who are willing to teach is hard to nowadays. The only reason to run fast through strikes is a quick pincale after doing the same ones 100s of times it gets a bit boring. Other than that, there are nice Guardians around. I consider myself nice, but I'm normally around or could pop on. I'm on in evenings normally weekends after 7.30pm UK time

Life is like this generally speaking, some people are nice some aren’t, some people are generous some are selfish, some people are honest some are dishonest, some people are sane and some are insane. Also some of us here are adults and have experienced the highs and lows of life and as a result are able to keep our hobbies (such as this one) in perspective. Some of us here are still children. Keep all that in mind and it will help you deal with the B$ that goes on when playing this game sometimes. ;)

I cut my teeth in the Modern Warfare and MW2 lobbies back in the 360 days, so none of it actually bothers me cause compared to that back then what you experience on D2 is grade school playground stuff lol

1 ReplyI've been on both sides of this post. It is important to consider the person on the other side of the screen, we never know what someone else may be going through. Thanks for sharing, it is a fine reminder to be good to one another.

Edited by Niinja Slayer: 7/31/2022 12:53:42 AMThere’s really two sides: 1) likes helping each other do everything. The other side wants the best stuff and thinks everyone else is in their way. (I. E. elitists) It’s honestly a societal problem though, everyone takes their problems out somewhere.

2 RepliesJust a bunch of elitist trash. The only thing important is them.

2 RepliesSame here. It was nicer to each other back in the day (2014, 2015). There were always complaints about the game and intense criticism but things are just toxic around here.

I stopped getting mad at video games when I was 16 Just had someone eager edge me in Wellspring, I thought it was hilarious , also had someone private message me that they thought I was the worst Trials player they ever seen, I just wrote them back thank you , I try At the end of the day, it doesn't matter , don't take it personal, I don't even think about it after I shut the game off -
1 ReplyThe famous Maoist philosopher Mike Tyson once said, "Social media made you all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." Also, you can't open yourself up to strangers on the internet and then expect said strangers to play nice.
-
Agreed. Those "experienced" players can't even wait the 5 to 10 extra SECONDS for you to get to the next area or section so you can refill on a raid banner either, before starting the next encounter. Like in dares of eternity, throne world, etc.

Exactly why I’ve almost strictly been playing with my friends for endgame content. LFG recently has grown more and more annoying. Whether it be toxic players (which I rarely find thank god), elitists, afk “I have to eat dinner” lookin players, or unfunny people who try incredibly hard to be a comedian (I.e quoting memes in verbal conversation 🤮)

10 RepliesLiterally go anywhere except this forums and you’ll see people actually act like humans. It’s only here that toxic people dwell.
