A lil' somethin' I've been working on...

I've been writing this for the past 6 months or so and while I don't have the full story written out, I'd like to present the main concepts. (I didn't know where else I could post this) Season of Nightmares (this would be season 4 in the year it's given) Overload makes a return when the Vex invade the Last City leading powerful nightmares to some kind of ritual. Whatever it is, it can't be good. Main DLC (Still haven't thought of a good name for this.) The Traveler's light mysteriously fades, leaving the Last City vulnerable to the Darkness. Guardians feel what it's like to live their last lives, and only the Traveler's light can save Ghost. Without a light to guide them, guardians must struggle to master the art of kinetic combat with new subclasses inspired by the elements that they've learned to wield. (Each subclass would get a kinetic subclass equivalent (less raw power, much faster cooldown) and would become unavailable in any mission activities from the DLC or accompanying seasons.) (The new light introduction would change) Season of Elders (Season 1) Season 2 of the Tournament Of Elders (led by a new Hunter) sees the Vanguard make their first appearance on the show as they travel the solar system collecting whatever shards of light they can to lure powerful Taken away from the Last City and into the Prison of Elders to face their inevitable doom. (An optional tournament is granted after completing the Seasonal campaign to play the "Endless Setlist" in which guardians face a hundred rounds (500 waves) of enemies before facing the winner of last season's tournament.) Season of Proving (Season 2) Caiatl's Cabal have stolen supplies and killed thousands of civilians from the Last City, but Lord Saladin and a couple of her highest ranking Psions believe there is something else pulling the strings. (This would reveal the more personal side of the new hunter) Season of the Taken (Season 3) Guardians are being Taken by the Darkness. Zavala orders all guardians to pull away from the Dreaming City before more are consumed. Unable to conquer the Darkness, the Vanguard looks to and old foe for assistance. (Immaru was never killed (to my knowledge) so it's entirely possible (to my knowledge) to reintroduce both it and Savathûn back into the game in the future. (This season would remove the ability to access the Last City as it would be way too overrun with taken by now) The Dreadnaught (Season 3 raid) Players are led to the dreadnaught during their brawl with the Taken where they learn that the Nightmares are coming to life. Past foes return as real beings rather than just haunting apparitions. After defeating multipe extremely powerful nightmares, guardians discover that Oryx, the Taken King, has returned to flesh, and is leading the attack on the Last City. Season of the Witch (Season 4) Savathûn has fulfilled her end of the bargain, and the Vanguard grants her freedom. This mistake leads to the death of a fan-favorite character as Savathûn all but instantly turns again the Vanguard, but sometimes there's more to betrayal than meets the eye. Any of this sound interesting? I don't expect it to be a smash hit, but I feel like at least getting this out. And yes, I'm serious about wanting to see this in Destiny. I would love to work with Bungie. I will admit, however, that I have no programming experience or schooling, which is kind of a deal-breaker.

  • Honestly not bad. Sounds like fun. Now you have to create all the weapons, armor and exotics, for each seasons

    • Sounds pretty cool. Not sure what everyone would think about an "endless setlist" but some of us would probably no life that. The kinetic focus sounds cool too. That's another thing that might be a little divisive but pretty much anything combat related turns out well with this game.

    • I tend to be fairly critical of most fan proposals and this will be no exception. Initial thoughts? Doesn’t quite read like six months of work. Still, that’s my arrogant “Me write and read good, me dictate quality” viewpoint, so take it with a grain of salt. Also don’t take anything said too seriously (except the Oryx bit), none of this is meant to come across as some rage fuelled tear down.
(Each subclass would get a kinetic subclass equivalent (less raw power, much faster cooldown) and would become unavailable in any mission activities from the DLC or accompanying seasons.) (The new light introduction would change)
Generally speaking it hard to judge something when you’re only given the back of the box synopsis, but it already seems a little weird. Especially when the concept was already attempted with the Red War and introducing new subclasses out of nowhere and either sunsetting the old ones completely OR making them a redundant campaign only feature seems like a controversial decision that would eclipse anything Bungie has done with the 3.0 updates.
Season of Elders (Season 1) Season 2 of the Tournament Of Elders (led by a new Hunter) sees the Vanguard make their first appearance on the show as they travel the solar system collecting whatever shards of light they can to lure powerful Taken away from the Last City and into the Prison of Elders to face their inevitable doom. (An optional tournament is granted after completing the Seasonal campaign to play the "Endless Setlist" in which guardians face a hundred rounds (500 waves) of enemies before facing the winner of last season's tournament.)
…..the show? You kind of need to explain these sort of plot points before introducing them. The initial purpose of the Prison of Elders activity was for the Reef to study both the Guardians and their inmates in order to both gather intelligence and sentence the prisoners to death in some cases. It’s not a game show. Now, could the concept be interesting? Maybe, in a pre-Lost era of the universe where the prison was in Spider’s hands, but now it’s back in Awoken hands, minus the majority of its inmates and it’s jailer. It also seems incredibly redundant to lure Taken into the Prison only to kill them. Also a hundred rounds is incredible excessive and wouldn’t be a popular addition in the long term. Personally I think a better application might be with the other enemy races. Xivu Arath, for example, the War and Might focused Hive God, might have an arena built specifically for challengers to prove their worth. Think Court of Oryx, except Xivu treats it like a religious ceremony given that all conflict directed at her feeds tribute to her. Easy enough to use the Wrathborn as a means of keeping the enemy rotation fresh, alongside the Scorn, Taken and Hive under her command.
Season of Proving (Season 2) Caiatl's Cabal have stolen supplies and killed thousands of civilians from the Last City, but Lord Saladin and a couple of her highest ranking Psions believe there is something else pulling the strings. (This would reveal the more personal side of the new hunter)
Again, a lack of context hinders this. Is Caiatl suspected of ordering this attack? If so, why? It doesn’t make much sense whatsoever and if she’s not the prime suspect, then the entire subplot of Saladin is more about figuring out who the mastermind is rather than finding out if there was another party involved. You also haven’t stated who this Hunter is but more egregiously, what their involvement in this story is. The entire point as well seems rather moot when the Last City is going to become overrun in the next season, it makes the starting point of this season look like a bit of a joke in hindsight. Now, if instead you wanted to entire year to turn into another Endless Night tale of divided peoples and infighting as bonds fracture, that could be more interesting. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Season of the Taken (Season 3) Guardians are being Taken by the Darkness. (This season would remove the ability to access the Last City as it would be way too overrun with taken by now)
Taken Guardians would be indistinguishable from Taken Humans/Awoken/Exos. The process of being Taken strips a being of any inherent Light, which is a cosmic force present in all living things to an extent. Also doesn’t make any sense for us to turn to Dul Incaru or Savathûn given that not only do the Awoken have the means of purifying Taken, but Savathûn could only Take through a proxy. Also doesn’t make sense as to why the Witness and it’s forces would be Taking Guardians when the Darkness has inherent Light suppressing/dampening properties that would render this development insignificant.
The Dreadnaught (Season 3 raid) Players are led to the dreadnaught during their brawl with the Taken where they learn that the Nightmares are coming to life. Past foes return as real beings rather than just haunting apparitions. After defeating multipe extremely powerful nightmares, guardians discover that Oryx, the Taken King, has returned to flesh, and is leading the attack on the Last City.
No, just no. I have made the case against Oryx returning in any significant form way too many times on this forum to want to repeat myself again here. It’s a deeply flawed concept that adds nothing substantial to the story. Oryx’s death has had long running consequences that we still feel to this day in Witch Queen, him coming back is entirely unnecessary.
Now this is intrinsically linked to the last season, but I’ll be judging it separately. Why would the Vanguard be so stupid as to not be on guard with Savathûn? We had a bargain with her in Lost already, which turned out to be a self-serving manipulation to benefit herself. It would be incredibly out of character for Zavala and Ikora to simply allow her the opportunity to stab them in the back to such a degree. Though I do like the idea of more being at play. When Savathûn does return, Bungie might benefit from using her to construct a fake-out scenario designed to fool everyone but Savathûn and the other involved parties, seemingly betraying the Coalition only to reveal it and backstab the Witness. Only there’s one major issue. The Witness would never trust Savathûn again after the her acquisition of the Light. Still, outside of the Light/Dark saga, such a rug pull might be interesting to behold.

      • I skimmed and I saw “guardians being taken”. Guardians can’t be taken.

        • Offtopic is for things unrelated to Destiny. Lore is for fanfics and the like.
