Unreasonable Grind For Players Who have a Normal Life

This needs to be looked at when we had the extended 6 month season before witch queen that allowed me to grind a decent pace but having to grind every 3 months to get an additional 15 to 20 levels on my artifact to be able to do master version of raids night falls and grand masters is utterly ridiculous. I am sure i am not the only one in the community that has a normal life who works has kids and can only dedicate a certain amount of time to destiny. This needs to re reconsidered in the future and powel leveling system needs an overhaul

  • The grind is not unreasonable nor way to much to the point where it needs to be changed. No a normal life is not to have a job and a family, to say that people who doesn't have a family is no lifers is utterly rediculous. If you don't have time to increase your characters power, complete challenges, complete titles, raids, dungouns, gms. then this game is not for you. First of all, you do not need to do everything in the game. Do the things that you want too do. If you wanna do a raid, then work towards it by doing the powerful and pinnacle weekly challenges, They don't take that long nor are they hard. You got the 3 main ones, Strikes, Crucible and Gambit. They all give powerfuls and pinnacles. If you can't do them then this game is clearly not for you. Currently i am Season pass level 624 and my bonus artifact power is 34. What i did to get there was the normal stuff, like Strikes, Gambit, dungeouns, story missions, seasonal missions and raids. Whilst doing Strikes, Gambit and Planetary stuff i did bounties for the extra exp. Again if you don't have the time to do normal raids, nightfalls heck even seasonal stuff, then this game is not for you.

I do think the grind is ridiculous, mainly because the moment to moment experience of this game is pretty much the same as it was in Destiny 1. What I mean by this is, we’ve already done this several times over, now it’s just locked behind more menus and inflated time frames. I know this isn’t necessarily on subject, but I absolutely hate the structure of raids in destiny two, which requires everyone to do a job just as important as the sword Runner from Crota’s End… I miss when the raid had positions for low effort players to tagalong. In addition, I’ve been very vocal on these forums about how much I hate the matchmaking involved with the crucible over the last two years. Grind Failure rate in raids due to low effort players Terrible crucible MM I used to be a several hours a day player, I used to be a raid Sherpa, and I am currently still the clan leader of a semi active clan… But because of these issues, i’ve come to the conclusion that I have to adjust how I interact with this game. Currently I only play this game to experience what I feel is the best experience that this game has to offer, which is the current narrative and story. While it is repetitive, each season does feature some great story beats that I’m interested in keeping up with. I pop in, play through the content each week, and eventually finish up on my season pass. I miss the days when you reached an end of the grind and had a few months to play, and just do whatever you want to, the fruit of your labor, The reward for taking your character to Max. Whether it was helping other players with content, Messing around in the crucible, or just exploring the world… getting to this point didn’t make me want to quit playing the game, it made me wanna play it more. I collected all these weapons, now it’s time to play with them, and do whatever I want, not be tied down to some ridiculous quest it requires me to use a certain load out in a certain situation. I’m just not gonna do it… So in all their efforts to make me continue playing, they ended up pushing me away. I think that this is many people’s story.

        • I'm right there with you that's why I never even attempt any of the high-level endgame stuff because with life and work etc I just don't have time but Bungie doesn't care about us they only care about streamers and the no lifers

Power level should be a 6 monthly interval. It gets boring each season, only to do the same the season after.

        • The 6 month season was excessive (but understandable given tje pandemic challenges for the dev team). I would prefer 3 4-month seasons in a year.

          • Sadly a lot of players defend a hamster wheel grind because it makes them feel superior to have a slightly higher number than someone else. I used to be the same but realised it wasn't really done for enjoyment, but a compulsion. The vocal minority of HC players and Youtubers need something special to feel like snowflakes I'm afraid.

            • Exactly! I play Comp pvp at night and if I have time dude I g the day I do PvE. I’m a year one player and I’ve never received an adept weapon in PvP or PvE. Sucks having to play against those weapons because they are far better than mine. I’m a pulse or scout main and I want the new Horrors Least so bad but trying to lfg a team for NF is a joke and I don’t have an hour trying to find a team.

            • Every 3 months is hot garbage. Wish it was once a year like it used to be. Drop new seasons, great, don't see why I need to regrind for a new "season" just to do the end game content I was doing at the start of the main DLC for that year 🤙

            • Agree. I have the impression that this week's Nightfall has the drop rate even lower... I took advantage of these two days, and made 15 Hero Nightfalls, 12 Plats, 3 gold. Only one Horros least drop...

            • It would be easier if they didn't drop the same item for pinnacles over and over again. It's like "here's some boots to go with your boots. Have fun trying to level!" To be fair, this season has been better than most for me, but it's still a slow grind.

            • Well yea, true. I can only give you one tip because i did it myself a few months back. Stop playing this game. I am busy with work/work prep atleast 12 hours per day. Wake up at 05:30 am, come home at 05:30 pm. My time thats left isn't repected enough even remotely by this gacha game. So i just stopped. I hop in every other tuesday if theres something interesting, instantly log off 90 % of the time and play actual fun games. Not games that keep me "busy" as the main appeal or feed an addiction, no, i play other games that are actually FUN just for playing them. My time is rewarded with fun. Can't say that about Destiny anymore sadly. Haven't actually had fun in years. Just kept up with the game because of my prior time investment and therefore me being attached to the stuff in game. Everyone should evaluate if this game is actually making them happy or if it's just the inner addiction being satisfied.

              • I never have time to do what I want in almost every season. I already gave up even trying, not even the heavy FOMO that Bungie puts in the game makes me run the same old, wasted, seasonal mechanics for 3 straight months. Nope, it's just not worth the effort and the burnout. I prefer to go play other games.

              • Guess what. I'm retired at 30 and guess what....
even I had a hard -blam!- time trying to get 15 artifact levels ontop of max pinnacle level. It took me 4 freaking weeks to get max level on my base level, and over 4 weeks to get my artifact high enough to do GMs, Master Wellspring etc. Why does that matter? Again. I have no job (I don't need one) and this was grinding with all the time in the world. If I was working again and only had 3 hours to play after work, I wouldn't make it each season. You shouldn't be over 4 weeks of grinding, without a job, in a 12 week season. What is it, like 7 or 8 weeks for those with work and families?
• The problem with posts like these is they don't accept that there's with full time jobs with kids (or even works more hours than they do) that still complete what they aim for in Destiny.

                    • To speed up levelling you could stack completed bounties at the end of a season for an instant level boost in the new season. I typically get around 18 levels on day 1 doing this.

                      • To be honest I'm thinking of quitting for a while or forever. This sucks every season they make me grind because I like end game higher tier content only. They will not take payment they will not work with us at all it sucks.
