I spoke to my friends about this and this made me genuinely question the future about lightfall, Here is the reason. When it comes to light and dark there are rules to how they work and how we can interact with them. The greatest rule of these is this: Light can only be given, and Dark can only be taken. We broke this rule. You see, it's not: Light can only be given, dark can only be taken, it's Light can only given OR ELSE and Dark can only be taken OR ELSE. One of the most famous of this was when the hive god's accepted the worm God's larvae for power instead of just taking it themselves. Oryx brought this up before he killed Akka, stating that the reason they were suffering under the strain of their worms was because they didn't take them so as a consequence for not following the rule of the dark, they are suffering for it. Another example for this rule is Ghaul. Ghaul became fed up with asking for the light from the traveler and defaulted to taking like everything else he's gained but as a result, the traveler destroyed him. Another example is rhulk when he captured ghost to try and pry the light out of it but instead the traveler rebuked him and made the ghost explode. Now that you understand what I mean, and the examples through destiny's history, here's how we broke the rule. We ACCEPTED stasis. We didn't take it, we ACCEPTED it. The pyramid beckoned us and gave us the power and we accepted it. I believe that we're in for some harsh consequences because we broke the rule and I think that Light fall has something to do that.

4 RepliesI agree. In fact that's why I chose not to use stasis or play gambit. Flirting with the power of the Darkness felt out of character and so my wife and I just role played that we stayed with the light. It would be really cool if Bungie did something that recognized players affinity for one or the other (based on playtime). Maybe an exotic class armor piece (equippable along with your regular exotic) that provided some boost to your light or dark powers, or even just a cosmetic effect (Something like the ephemera from Warframe), to show where you've "aligned" yourself. Maybe it could evolve along with your gameplay, focusing not just on "light" and "dark", but also class and sub-class specialization.

Did you discuss the use of paragraphs in every day communications on the internet? Seems like that would have been a good topic to cover. 👍

I wanna see hybrid light+dark classes. Kinda like the annihilator beam in Metroid Prime 2 Echoes.

To all destiny lore lovers, there are a few things to say about light fall. First, the last city may not be destroyed. Second, Eramis will come back, and third, we most likely will be losing our light. I’ll tell you why all three of these will happen. The simple answer is the dark future lore book. Eramis will come back. It’s a given, a no doubt. But this time, things will be different. You see, remember that we are the odd, the very odd, variable in this whole story. We stopped the black garden from making dark guardians, and we stopped Eramis. Now, when Eramis comes back, something will be different. You see, before, in the dark future, no guardian stopped her on Europa. That isn’t to say we defeated her, no. She will come back, likely as a disciple. But we staggered and broke her forces. In the dark future, no guardians stopped her and she was able to gather her forces and grow them into dark wielding stasis soldiers. We stopped that, so that’s a crack in the future. Therefore, Xivu Arath, when she comes with the darkness, will be met by a very strong force because Eramis has her forces staggered and in disarray. Now, about the light situation. We most likely will be losing out light, and the last city may get destroyed, but it may not. This may be, and hear me out, the dlc where we finally explore the paracausal city we saw on IO and Mars. The darkness likes to put those for some reason as well as the traveler. And there may be something in that city that will help us to reclaim the light and stop the darkness in the future. In the end, we have two women fighting it out over paracausality. If you want to hear about the two women, then look at it yourself. The Witness is a female. Just look at the picture. And the statue is a female. We can all tell. Anyways, this is the most interesting dlc that any of us have ever heard of, and I’m excited for what’s to come. Nice theories to you all. -
1 ReplyWe accepted the Shard. Once it was broken, we took the power for ourselves by channeling it without an aide. So we didn’t break the rule of taking Dark power.

7 RepliesYou're forgetting something said by Savathun. "Have you never wondered why yours is the only species to be able to wield both light and dark? While others can simply be put on one side or another?" We're in trouble on the context of we have the Witness bearing down on us with enough firepower and paracausal power to wipe us out repeatedly. However the Witness is a user of the Dark. It is not the only entity capable of wielding the Dark. If you want to get into the gritty details.....we kinda did take Stasis. We stole it from Eramis who stole it from Clovis Bray. That's humanity for you though.....we can give and take.

The only wrench thrown in here somewhere was one statement Eris made after we reentered the Pyramid in WQ, that the Pyramid only assisted us last time because there was also something of gain towards helping us, thus why it didn’t the next time was because we had nothing to offer it. It makes their reasoning sound simpler as a sort of exchange rather than a simple give or take formula. Power is offered, and in exchange a weapon is made greater. Help is offered, the threat is removed. The weird contrast is that when compared to Light, Stasis wasn’t forcibly given. The Guardian was able to take Stasis out of their own accord, whereas there was never any choice for the Light, on account of us being dead before the point of resurrection. In any case, there still are far too many unknowns as of the moment. We don’t really know who/what the Witness is much less of their intentions, let alone any actual details as to what happened during the Collapse or even how it really went down between the Traveler and the garlic Doritos. Mark my words, those juicy deets are definitely coming and soon.

1 ReplyEdited by Xero: 7/28/2022 1:14:11 PMMaybe that's what the "commune with the Traveller" is?
commune /kəˈmjuːn/ verb communes; communed; communing [no object] formal : to communicate with someone or something in a very personal or spiritual way
The Witness (having seen what we did and "broke" said rule of Darkness because we communed with it) will probably tell the Traveller of us come LightFall, and we might be considered an "enemy of the Traveller" as a result. Maybe this sparks more meaning to "Survive the Truth", as this might have the Traveller either: A) Destroy us one by one as a collective, or just us specifically. B) Abandon us entirely, which is possible since Rasputin's protocols can't be done at the current moment due to the Black Fleet disabling him, in Season of Arrivals and we haven't heard from him since. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1 ReplyAkka and oryx have nothing to do with our ability to wield stasis. Prior to beyond light we had no idea stasis existed & all we knew of was lightbearers like rezyl azzir (dredgen yor) being corrupted thanks to him putting hive chittin on his gun called rose. We didn't break any rule by learning how to wield stasis. Besides Eris drifter & Elsie were already using it.

I wouldn't say we accepted it. Remember we had to take the knowledge just like Oryx took the power to take. It offered and we took it (with stasis) With deepsight we 100% took Going back to BL, the pyramids did give us a splinter which helped us to taste the darkness. However to gain more power we had to seek out the pyramids and take the knowledge. In WQ, we discovered deepsight by accident and then took the knowledge from the pyramid whether it wanted to give it or not.

Dude, person, bruh... Don't worry, there is no [life||death], there just is... To some it'll make sense; to others, well, enjoy. There is only one [END], you'll beg for it...it actually is your salvation. Existence doesn't matter when you don't remember your birth.
