As of right now, raids are kind of a joke. Once you learn the mechanics, there’s no other mastery. They are simply too easy. The rewards are also lackluster. By offering a hard mode, more hardcore players can get a more difficult challenge. Hard mode should also offer unique rewards along with being more challenging. By keeping normal raids, you can still appeal to the more casual players.

I think raids are a great part of the game on the whole, but they must take up so much development time and huge amounts of resources yet only used by 1% of the player base. From a business point of view that’s a huge waste.
-
Hard mode (for anything) has become nothing more than beefier bullett sponges. No additional mechanics. Let’s let them be. Creating content is hard.
-
For those 13 asshats still bothering with useless raiding? Gear 2.0 saw to that... Nothing matters. Not a single thing.

Edited by DredLaP: 1/20/2020 12:44:01 AMThey said they design hard mode first. Then create an easier version off of it. We basically get hard mode. What isnt being made is normal mode. Which may be why hardly any one raids. % of us raiding is so low, id rather they put the time/$$ into new content and new raids/dungeons/whisper type missions.

Let them make a fun raid for Destiny 2 first.

People can't even complete normal raids...

Normal raids in D1 were (in general) much easier than our current raids in D2. That’s not to say that I don’t think our current raids are pretty easy, but for a normal raid to appeal to casuals, it’d need to be a little easier (not Scourge tho, that’s fine). I more think hard modes are needed for a source of truly meaningful endgame rewards. Give us hard mode weapons with slight damage bonuses against the correlating enemy factions, or specific enemies in the raids (i.e. Berserker, Angelic, Might of Riven... is that its name?, the Taken Knight that drops the relic in LW, etc. ) Give us hard mode armor ornaments like D1. Supreme raid mods, cool shaders, emblems—all of it, just like D1. I think Bungie’s current raids are great normal modes but if there isn’t going to be a hard mode to amp up the rewards to 11, than they’re going to have to start satisfying those desires through these normal raids. GoS is probably the raid closest to having done this. I feel having a season dedicated mostly to just updating old raids, strikes, balance passes, quality of life, etc. (like Age of Triumph) would be much more valuable than another horde mode and a few exotic quests.

You want HM back??? Go sherpa 5 noobs at any raid.
-
I just want a weekly featured raid system instead of just GoS every week for the pinnacle gear. And yes I realise some raids have less drops then others but I think it would still be a whole lot better then the same raid every week.
-
Only a tiny percentage of players complete raids. I don't think Bungie will go through the hassle of designing and balancing a hard mode raid at this point.
-
The problem with hard raids now is that max light doesn’t require the endgame anymore/and pinnacle gear is useless. So what would be the point
-
They can't too many people wouldn't play then
-
I’m all for ‘prestige modes’ but NOT with random weapons. That was just a compete waste of time, I’m not sure who the hell in their right mind thought it would be fun to lock players load outs. Hard mode should be more challenging but we should be able to interact with the encounters as we see fit.

Do you know who the Game Director is? Do you remember what his idea of Hard Mode Raids are in year 1 for the Lairs? A Big No Thank You.

Edited by Infamous067: 1/19/2020 2:51:22 PMHard mode is no different, once you learn the mechanics it gets easy too. You think kings fall on hard mode was hard back in D1? Everyone knows harder modes are not any harder, they simply make enemies spongier and add another mechanic to the same raid, its simply a waste of time. If you want difficulty go play dark souls, if you want to raid go play anthem or borderlands.

Edited by Lull9: 1/19/2020 12:20:37 PMThe way the game is structured now, people don't have patience for spending extra time when the pinnacle rewards are trivial to the general gameplay. And we're probably not ever going to get anything "game-changing" from an elitist activity again. That's something that Bungie clearly wants to avoid. And mostly, it would just make things even more toxic and put extra stress on the "weak links" of raid groups. This is coming from someone who has absolutely everything from all the hardmode raids in D1 and has all the raid titles in D2. Back in D1 there was so much more hype and enthusiasm and raids were one of the main sources for power increases. People would do 3x reset runs back when reset was at 2:00am. That level of commitment is long gone.

Only 10% of community does raids, so it's just waste of resources. Until core promblems of raids aren't solved like: shitty weapons that can be outclased by world drops or pinecle weapons, no ability to farm raids after first completion of week, I dont wanna hard mode raids.
-
On the other end of that, there’s flawless and various other triumphs for a title. But it’s “not worth it”. No testing out new seasonal weapons when they come out or the wholesome playing for fun. You know mastery would imply an end, right? Hard mode raids weren’t much different either. Ya get it down eventually, there never was a dynamic challenge that changes. Really strange reasoning here
