I know not many people probably don’t use this power weapon but it’s among my favorites. I was disappointed to find out that the catalyst is very underwhelming. I mean blocking an attack gives you a small damage buff for a half second?!
I would have liked to see it reworked to something like the amount of damage you absorb from blocking increases your damage of your first heavy attack.
The absorbed damage could be saved when swapping weapons and the damage buff could be capped at 50%
I just want to know what other Guardians think of the glorious Talon!

You gotta play like it's sekiro man, block every bit of damge with perfect time, and then...BAM! Smack them with some void energy, just for you to get boss stomped across the room into a wall for your meeting with the architects.
-
Meh. Got the catalyst. Haven’t bothered with it.
-
The catalyst is straight booty cheeks! It's hot garbage.
-
Bro just learn the parry timing like wtf..
-
Dude. The damage buff IS 50%
-
It’s only useful on titans
-
Agree

Edited by Cinderchar: 12/14/2019 6:18:07 PMI was just excited to see it make orbs. But I have such extremely low expectations for Bungie at this point so I wasn’t let down by the perk.

got the catalyst, completed the catalyst, put the weapon away. - might give it a bash, but I find it to be a pretty MEH exotic compared to the others.
-
Yea that’s pretty stingy and pathetic in my opinion, nothing exotic about it
-
the damage buff is 50% increase iirc. The only issue I have about it is the practicality. You've got a very short window on top of timing a very specific action and then said action consumes ammo when blocking. It's really only practical on the titan with stronghold as is currently. I think to make the catalyst better they just need to slightly bump up the buff time and also drastically reduce the ammo when blocking.
-
+50% is a small damage buff?
-
Wholly agree. I've used the BT consistently pretty much across anything outside of Comp. The catalyst is, to put it in colloquial English, ass. An utter waste of an upgrade.
-
Not even half a second. Reversal disappeared the second I stop blocking.
-
So the Titans sword is not an exotic and gets the same buff. Plus if you finish off your ammo with it active on a power swing you do as much as 2 rocket hits to the face in a single swing. Sure it can’t shoot bolts out, but paired with the titan’s shoulders you can guard and run up any anything and slam rinse and repeat.
-
I'm going to enjoy the kill tracker for PvP 😁
-
half a second...?
-
Think of boss damage though, during sundial you can lay into a boss, guard that stomp mechanic and then wack the again Even better with that Titan exotic
-
It's a strong weapon & personally I dont care about the catalyst perks other than its ability to create orbs.
-
In D1 enjoyed using the exotics swords and running a bubble titan... I got the BlackTalon the catalyst. I will unlock it and then throw the weapon in the vault when I'm done. BT doesn't seem like an exotic.
-
Stronghold pairs amazingly with this. Sadly if you are not fortunate enough to be one of us then I am truly sorry.
-
I'm pretty sure the current damage buff is actually 50%. That said, it's really exclusively good on Titans because Stronghold exists, so guess we get shafted lol
-
I like the talon, got the catalyst yesterday, now I’m disappointed.
-
its very effective in pve, especially against some of the unstoppable enemies, defo if you use it on a titan with stronghold
-
Remember? Bungie can't innovate new challenges for us, so they just make our weapons weaker, and ammo economy bad.
-
Thats what everyone says when a exotic catalyst only gives a boost to stats and not its exotic perk
