Why do they get so butthurt over people poking fun at Mohammed I don't get it
English
-
Because its forbidden
-
Supposedly worshiping an image of the prophet is forbidden, not creating or displaying one.
-
It's only a few terrorists who misinterpret the Quran. If anything, the magazine is starting to be the source of violence now. They're pretty stupid for continuing to make those magazines. But anyway, Je Suis Charlie.

Define few. - Der
-
It could be 10,000 terrorists, who knows. But thats nothing compared to 1.4 billion. And go away, Der. I've seen your posts. They were very ignorant. No matter how much you deny it, my religion, Islam, is a religion of peace. Je Suis Charlie.
-
We know it's not 10,000. The 30-40,000 ISIS fighters in Syria prove that wrong I'll agree that most Muslims aren't terrorists, but far too many support it. - Der
-
I know, but terrorists misinterpret the teachings of Islam. Just keep that in mind.
-
Let's say they have a different interpretation. Take Afghanistan for example. They have a 78% illiteracy rate. How many of the afghanistanis can even read the Koran, much less have an understanding of how to interpret it? I get your position, but what can be done about the millions who see Islam differently? - Det

I don't know. Not violence, but if they don't understand, then we may have to being in Jihad. And the very word Jihad means "Struggle", so we may have to fight the terrorists until they stop their violent acts.

Edited by Progo: 1/17/2015 1:03:24 AMHow can you put any measure of blame on someone practicing freedom of speech? It's like blaming r@pe victims for wearing revealing clothing.
-
Freedom of Speach does not mean freedom from consequence.

A t-shirt with this shall now be made. + 1 internet to you.

Those terrorists did use violence, but hey, those terrorists attacked Charlie because they made fun of Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Now making more of those magazines? I'm starting to think. that Charlie Hebdo are making those magazines to spark more violence from terrorists, which would make Islam even look worse until innocent Muslims would be massacred. Just a thought. Of course, terrorists do commit violence, but Charlie Hebdo is lighting a fuse they don't/can't put out.
-
Before I go to any of your other points, I want to address this one:
make Islam even look worse until innocent Muslims would be massacred
No no no, if anything, this whole debacle has been a good bonding moment for moderates of all sorts, Atheists, Muslims, and Christians, to join up and say no to violence. The point in making more magazines is to show that extremism is futile, and that it will be countered with extreme resilience. I don't work at the printing office, but I think that's the whole idea of them continuing.
-
No, they're just trying to be jerks and judge a religion with 1.4 billion people just because of a few terrorists.
-
It's satire. It's a bunch of satirical writers who've just had colleagues murdered. They're continuing with their job, they might well believe that no one should be free from satirical ridicule, that's a common belief among people like that, so they carry on. It's been said that 'satire is more than comedy. It's an ultimate weapon. The best way to counter terrorism and extremism is to laugh in their faces.' I'm not saying I agree with any of this, but it is quite possibly true
-
Dude what Progo is saying is spot on, can you not see that?
-
Not exactly, as these drawings directly caused these events. Sure, in principle you should be allowed, but the world would be a better place if they didn't
-
the world would be a better place if they didn't
I have a bit of a soft spot for Conflict Theory, this sort of incident makes extremism more and more distasteful, and I think it serves as a prime opportunity for good people of any faith to stand out from the bad of any faith. So, to me, the publisher has done no wrong by exercising their rights, they have merely affected the evolution of society by hitting it with a red hot poker. It was astounding to me to hear that Pakistani police were tear gassing Hebdo riots in their cities, and I think it's because sensible people are starting to rise up against extremists.
-
Nonetheless, Hedbo and co. are dead for good, and that could have been avoided.
-
Oh, well regarding their own deaths, not other violence, he definitely could've avoided that. If I were making that sort of content I would have had armed guards or lived in a swiss castle or something.
-
Swiss castle FTW

The main tragedy is that others uninvolved have suffered for this.
