You think PvP is a good idea, try playing DayZ and see if you think it will still work for Destiny. Bandit players will do nothing but hunt other players, they will be super hard to kill and you will endlessly be looking over your shoulder. When you see another player it will be shoot first and ask questions later. Because if they get the jump on you your toast.
As soon as you engage some mobs, a 12 year old will jump you from behind with a super and you'll have zero chance of fighting back. Then they'll take your gear.
You won't be able to get off your sparrow for fear some sniper will take you out. A three man fire team of bandits will be able to lock down a map section and kill everyone who enters the zone with very little risk as they can revive each other.

With all do respect, please grow some balls. If you don't like getting picked on by a fireteam of 3 --- get your own fireteam of 3... This mode is not for everyone, but then again, you are not forced to play it. It is only for those with confidence and gall, not for the weak and meek.

Edited by MIDNIGHT562: 8/13/2014 4:51:43 PMLOL, with all do respect originally we were not talking about it as a separate mode. I got no problem with that, I'd even play it some you eunuch jellybell, if they offered it up as that. What I was saying is that allowing PvP on the normal mission and exploration maps would ruin the game. For one the maps we have seen so far way too small for that type of thing. I've played a ton of PvP on huge maps and it's down right brutal. Games like Day Z you basically have no choice but too shoot player you come across just for your own safety. Games that tried to copy DayZ consent paranoia and intensity were ruined by the predatory PvP just locking down the maps. I just use Day Z because it's a fun game and a good example of how ruthless PvP can be, But their are many other games with similar stories. The problem it it's hard to have an exploration, resource gathering, mob fighting game while PvP is going on, and keep it well balanced. If you want a mode were all the maps are available for PvP battles, I'm all for that. But not as part of the standard game play that would 100% kill the game.

thank you for clarification. I support your recent post and will insert my foot in my mouth. I do not support PVP in the current PVE missions/game modes --- a separate game mode would be where I welcome the option to combine PVP & PVE and "gank" other people with fireteams.

A well reasined arguement. But realise, this applies to everyone. It is a ruthless and dangerous world for everyone. I haven't played day z, but I think that a single mode with this survival gameplay would be very interesting if you want to change things up.

If your talking a separate game mode that's fine, but PvP on the missions and exploration mode will ruin the game. PvP people would need a separate set of servers.

Yeah. Either a different game mode or a certain area where this could be done. That is what I meant from the beginning. Sorry if I didn't explain that well. If you like the idea, please vote above and like the post.

What would be really cool is if they opened up closed game areas like the highway of death outside of old Russia. Explorable with out too many points of interest except the landscape, some random mobs a few treasures and the constant threat of PvP. Or made a new short cut between two areas that's PvP zone.
