How does one even begin to learn a new language? How do you relearn everything? The words and characters, etc.

I've been in the process of learning Arabic for over a year. The one thing you have to realize is that it does not happen overnight. You have to put in the dedication and time and effort to learn another language. To get started, you literally have to start from the beginning. Start learning the alphabet of whatever language you want and go from there. Another thing, it's much more than just memorizing. You have to constantly think or talk to yourself, when you get skilled enough, to really get a natural flow of things. Anticipating what others might say in a conversation is a great way to build up muscle memory to really have a naturally flowing conversation. When you get a large enough vocab, you could also do something else I do to learn. For instance, I may see a red car so I will say "as-sayarra ahmar". Which means "the car is red". So yeah... Hope I helped.
