As a member of my nation's armed forces, I find the tone of your post to be disrespectful of my creed and take it as a personal attack against myself and other military personnel on this forum. Also, this post is not against terms of use because "Forum Coping" is no longer against terms of use. On Topic: Typical citizen has much more first had experience with police than with military, probably speeding tickets.

 • Can you explain how asking this question is disrespectful? Maybe your issue is with other people who have answered the question instead?

 •
Because it's more acceptable to kill a foreigner than a fellow countrymen?
Probably just how the OP sounds. I know you don't mean it, but I can see how it sounds like you're saying that our servicemen over seas actually enjoy taking someone's life. Anyone's life at that.

 • No, actually. It was a question of whether a citizen of a country finds it more acceptable for a life of a foreigner to be taken than that of their fellow citizen. It is not a question of whether it is "easy" or not, it is a question of people's perceptions of what really happens. The idea behind it is that if someone does find it [more] acceptable, then that's a possible reason they don't hold the police to the same esteem as a soldier (because they're [the police] are taking the lives of fellow citizens who they may believe have more "worth"). There could be other reasons why they are unequal, some of which are given in this topic, but it's not a view I hold.
