Edited by hotshot revan II: 4/23/2014 3:30:27 PMLOOOOL Which clown aboard the infinity allowed this shit to happen?
-
No one really, but I'd half jokingly say Palmer.
-
What happened to Infinity?
-
Energy Projector hit it and shot all the way through it.
-
Vertical or horizontal? If it was horizontal..... Infinity would be dead for sure. Vertical might just leave a big hole. But if it was dunked to the point of being unsalvageable..... MRW^
-
It pierced the ship width-wise
-
Were her shields up?
-
No. Not that I'd think it'd matter.
-
It would. Her shields broke an armored Covenant warship in half without even slowing down. That is several megatons worth of power, if the Infinity had her shields up when the projector hit, it wouldn't have been nearly as damaged if at all. So I was just curious, because if they had been up and they dealt that much damage, then that would be either a discrepancy or the projector got an unexpected boost in power. How did the Infinity get shot with her shields down anyway, ambush?
-
Gigatons =/= megatons Infinity jumped into Oth Lodon after SPARTAN-IVs scouting the system on booster frames identified a small Covenant space station. After making contact with the station, it fired an energy projector at point blank range.
-
Gigatons =/= megatons
I never said it did. Unless you mean to say that the Energy Projector puts out gigatons of power. I'm mostly asking these questions for some other people I know who are into sci-fic technical stuff.
-
The energy projector most likely puts out gigatons. And even if it did fire in megatons, Infinity's shields would not have lasted.
-
Where do the gigatons come from exactly? Most versions of it I have heard list it as megatons, or several hundred kilotons per second of sustained fire.
-
Just a personal guess with no evidence to back it up.

It was inevitable. Didn't think it'd happen so soon, though.
