I don't why Brian Reed's writing has become so poor lately. The Fall of Reach graphic novel was so well written by Brian Reed maybe the stupidity from Karen Traviss rubbed off on him, I'm just hoping he redeems himself.
Brian Reed
This post has got me thinking that Brian Reed write comics under the right guidance brilliantly as determined by his past installments. I concur that the guidance of Schlerf, Brian can write great comics. I'm hoping that he improves his writing skills especially due to his character development being rather poor. Basically he has the potential to be a great writer but he hasn't meet the potential yet, I hoping that this is his time to shine.

  • Reed wrote the comic adaptation of TFOR as part of a deal with Marvel. It was actually quite good.

  • Yes, but that's because he didn't write it in the first place. You don't credit Peter Jackson with writing TLOTR or The Hobbit.

  • I don't think that that analogy particularly stands up considering how much was changed in LOTR's film adaptations. Take Faramir's arc, for example, as it's totally different to how he is in the novels. He basically immediately helps Frodo out and sets him on his way with very little in the way of his backstory being established, he just says that he would not pick up the Ring if it had fallen by the wayside. Whereas he actually has quite a lot of emotional depth in the films and a journey to undergo as a character which leads him to the point where he rejects the Ring and sets Frodo on his way, so no I would not credit Peter or Fran for writing LOTR/The Hobbit as whole stories, but the adaptation has a vast number of differences which builds up whole new stories based on the established fiction. Tauriel would be another example here where they interject something new which they can be accredited for. The same principle works for Reed with the TFOR comic.
