Being concerned about the surveillance capabilities of Kinect while having a mobile phone in your pocket is about as stupid as spouting the virtues of being vegan while wearing leather shoes...

I know a bit about collecting. The information that the Kinect can provide is nothing compared to that of a cell phone and laptop. So much is stored upon those 2 items, and more would transpire on them compared to the Kinect, which would be lucky to act as a 3rd rate information platform. Why stare at someone's lounge room when their entire life, both public and secret, is stored up one mobile phones and computers?

Right, your phone has a two cameras on it and is always connected to the internet... I have a xbox one and I really don't care

I think it's possible to be concerned about the possibility of surveillance from more than one thing at once. Either way, what's more relevant is the growing evidence that pretty much anything with the potential to be used as a surveillance tool may well be used as one. Again, the more informed among us will point out that we've always known this as a fact so nothing here is new.

Being concerned about the possibility of surveillance tools seems somewhat irrelevant in a world where we willingly allow companies to track and collect extraordinary amounts of metadata on our day to day behaviors.
