It's funny that people go on about being watched by the kinect though you're being watched right now on your computer.

Edited by Bistromathics: 3/1/2014 2:41:50 AMKinect doesn't show my good side, though. Anyway, surveillance isn't exclusive to a single device. You're probably more likely to hear about Kinect and the PS Eye on a gaming forum and gaming websites, but we both know that phone and webcam surveillance has been a far bigger issue in the news. I think the point to draw from this is not that Kinect is the worst thing in the history of ever, but instead that it's not out of the realm of possibility that anything you buy can and will be used against you. As I mentioned in the OP, if you already knew that the government was monitoring everything ever, this won't come as news to you.
You're probably more likely to hear about Kinect and the PS Eye on a gaming forum
Thats where you are wrong... Gamers on PC get hacked a lot more, whether its a DDoS or Hijacking. Every day someone is hacked because of a game. I would go more in depth but im writing an essay atm lol.

I'm well aware of the dangers of PC gaming, lol, but we're talking about specific government surveillance: the NSA surveillance revealed by the Snowden leaks and now this cool-sounding Optic Nerve program conducted by the GCHQ. In that context, you talked about how people go on about Kinect but not computer surveillance, and it seemed to me that was because gaming websites talk about gaming stuff, while the larger public is definitely more interested in phones and computers.

i wouldn't say PC's, more people use PC's for gaming then professional use. The public is more for Tablets, laptops. phones, etc.
