Just was thinking about something last night, kind of related. How can we continue to follow Palmer so casually like she is some hero? She shot Halsey which led to her arm being amputated. Yes, she was just following orders but still...A thought crossed my mind. When Chief eventually meets Halsey again he is going to want to know who did that...

Need I bring up the -godwinslaw!- and how well the whole "just following orders" excuse served them at the Nuremberg Trials after WWII? Regardless of the fact that the order itself was completely illegal, it doesn't excuse Palmer in any way, as a matter of fact, it's what absolutely damns her. If Palmer actually were at all heroic, she wouldn't have even tried to follow through on the order either. As I already pointed out, it's an illegal order, ONI does not have the right, power, or authority to just go around executing people without a trial just because they feel like it, and especially not UEG/UNSC citizens. Of course, if 343i was at all interested in following canon or the way the Halo universe functions in regards to ONI and the chain of command, none of this retarded bullshit with Halsey would be happening to begin with. Kilo-5 never would have even gotten to the point where they were "arresting" Halsey from Onyx as they would have already been outed and discovered for committing treason by trying to go around arming and supporting zealots like Telcam who want to depose the Arbiter, thus undermining the interests of the government. And Parangosky likewise would have been caught in the downfall of Kilo-5...........pretty much everything 343i has been doing with ONI is completely wrong and contradictory to how things work. They've essentially turned ONI into an organization Mary Sue.

They've been doing illegal operations from the very beginning.

The issue not following the rules vs not following the rules when it comes to ONI, the issue them being able to break the law whenever they -blam!-ing want without fear of any kind of repercussions or getting into any kind of trouble whatsoever. The actions themselves are not what's unrealistic or the problem, it's what happens (or rather doesn't) in regards to consequences of said plans or their potential to fail due to being discovered and thus having to pay the price for their misdeeds (as would realistically happen with almost all of them we've seen in Kilo-5 or Halo 4 and the rest of post Halo 3 story).

It goes down like this MC "At first i wanted to -blam!- you, but now i'm gonna -blam!- you up" SP "Excuse me?" MC *beats the shit of SP*

commander shepard's "we'll bang ok" is a lot different to master chief's
