What's the point exactly? I mean, the SoF has nothing really to offer the UNSC at this point aside from three S-IIs and now we have the S-IVs I don't really see why recovering them would be a big deal.

"Captain wake up. Something has happened." That's why. I've waited 5 years to find out what happened.
-
Sure something happened. But is that thing that "happened" interesting and relevant enough to the plot or the UNSC to justify taking time out of a story that is infinitely more interesting and relevant (IMO)
-
>Travelling the void between starts trying to get back home >Something happens That sounds really interesting to me.
-
The thing that happened could be anything from a minor pipe leak to running out of power on deck 5
Although, we all know it was a sequel hook but then ensemble went under
-
Actually, Ensemble knew they were going under while working on Halo Wars. So knowing that, they had no point to include that tidbit of info unless otherwise directed to do so.
-
Lol. Legendary Ending. "Captain, wake up. Something has happened." "What is it Serina? "The vending machines on deck 5 need to be restocked."
-
"Captain, wake up. Something has happened." "What is it, Serina?" "I'm lonely..."

Could this be a new series of Red Dwarf?

Spartan IV's don't even have augmentations, making Spartan II's much more valuable assets. Although I'm not sure why Spartan IV's don't have augments since they made the process a 100% success rate.
SSpartan IV's don't even have augmentations,
If that we're true, every time they moved using Mjolnir they'd die. Here's a list of the SIV Augmentations: Corneal Implants (Biological Nightvision) Heart weaved with something (Allows heart to beat fast enough to outrun a horse) Lungs lined with polymer (Allows better oxygen intake, and the processing of toxins) Bacteria in digestive system enhanced (More nutrients) Pancreas replaced with a completely new organ Platelets tweaked to clot faster Those are the confirmed augs. It's highly suggested their muscles were improved as well, otherwise Mjolnir would be completely unusable.

It's cool, that's why.

What a beautiful sentiment.
