=O No way. How in the hell is he the traitor!?!?
Scruggs is the traitor. Makes very little sense since he's one of the original Spartan-IVs. That is unless ONI's behind this...
I hope ONI aren't behind this one. That would ruin what little belief I have left in them being a plausible intelligence organization after that nonsensical crap with Kilo 5. This being the second SIV traitor from the generation's first batch, I believe, has the potential to cause some very serious issues with the integration of the SII, SIII and SIV programs. ONI had better cover this one up and hope that word of it doesn't get out, although to be honest I'm not sure how they are going to do that with Hood, Thel and Lydus being there who are not under ONI jurisdiction (The latter two [Or at least Lydus] who likely don't give a shit about UNSC inter-divisional trust and morale and who may openly criticise this). Not to mention the fact that Humanity are still clinging to Thel's shins in order to survive the post Halo 3 situation. Pissing him off will get Humanity glassed, as if they didn't learn that from their botched and utterly delusional destabilization plan with Kilo-5. Treating ONI as a post-Parangosky, post-Traviss!Osman organization who has went back to looking out for Humanity's best interests, I think it would have to be someone else. Jul might be a contender but he never really seemed too concerned with the Brutes, and sabotaging these peace plans whilst perhaps dealing Thel a blow to his political credibility would not be in the best interests of the Sangheili people. Jul, as much as he hates Thel, I think would accept that what is best for his people (As in, not getting raided and eaten by Brutes) takes priority over his personal feelings with Thel. It will be someone who benefits from these peace talks falling through and/or the deaths of these distinctively progressive pro-peace leaders. As these peace talks involve not only a peace treaty between 3 powerful groups each basically representing the Big Three, they also involve cooperative access to and distribution of important resources on Brute controlled worlds, hence this is more than just a peace treaty. It's more towards an actual alliance, and will probably develop into a fully fledged one as time goes on (Hence I doubt its ONI as this deal potentially sets Humanity up to be Member Number 3 of 3 of the -blam!-ing New Covenant leadership if all goes well; they'd be morons to attack this). Insurrectionists never really cared for Humanity, lets face it. They're Humanity's Jul, except stupider and with 100% less patriotism. They were either happy to burrow away inside asteroids whilst Humanity was wiped out and hope the Covenant didn't decide to run a patrol through their system, or were happy to attack and harass the UNSC's supply lines and economic/industrial base whilst they were fighting for Humanity's collective survival. Even though making these peace deals fall through is technically screwing Humanity over in the long run (Or at the very least consigning it to a future of mediocrity along with everyone else) judging from history I don't think they'd give a shit. So long as their soon-to-be-made-redundant-due to-gross-inefficiency farms are safe, and that the UNSC is prohibited from reaching unassailable heights for them to chew the ankles of I think they'd be happy with it. I think their involvement is assured due to Scruggs. Other possibilities and connections might be Sangheili who think that they could and should destroy the Brutes, hence don't want peace (At east between Brutes and Sangheili; I think the Sangheili/Human one is basically settled by this point [Ehh, okay, assuming no more Forerunner interventions...]) and believe it to be redundant. Or even more unexpectedly, some Jackal "merchants" looking to get filthy rich from all the war by selling all the Covenant crap they stole after the schism to the highest bidders. That would be a real shocker, at how times have changed to the point where the Jackals are now able to play the game. I'll probably be disappointed though as it turns out to be ONI all along "Makin' thum 'Ard desishuns!".

 • it makes perfect sense because he is an original S4. I think ONI is behind this as admiral drake came up in the first issue. i suspect the whole Kilo 5 crap is still going on.

 • I hope so, but at the same time humanity still needs to 'ripen' for the Flood's return. I'm really wondering how things are going to turn out in this regard because there's a bit of a vacuum right now.
