If nobody bought consoles at launch, why would Sony and MS (or anyone really) make new consoles? That's why a -blam!-ing Gameboy is singing this shit. -blam!- you Gameboy. Both systems are still well within the acceptable failure rate for consumer electronics. You're just hearing more about it now since the info is easier to get out to a wider audience. Actually, that song's written by Brentalfloss and it looks like some people from OCRemix had their hands in it as well. I like his videos but I'm pretty sure he (and the OCRemix guys) prefer retro systems to current ones, so considering the source, meh.

  • This same thing happens with reported tornadoes every year. Technology is a wonderful thing.

  • Perhaps if no one bought consoles with this amount of problems, they would be forced to produce at a higher level of quality. I shouldn't have to pay 500 dollars and and risk having a day one brick just because "That's the way things are", not to mention decent/crappy games that get pushed out the door for launch. That sort of thing isn't acceptable for other electronics, why should it be for game consoles?

Except it is the same with other consumer electronics. During QA, there are acceptable failure rates. Both consoles are within those acceptable failure rates. In fact, if you were to buy a new console, it is a statistical likelihood that your console will work. The reason you see stories about consoles breaking is because nobody wants to read about consoles working. Where's the story in that? The amount of problems are very low. You're just hearing about it way more because the information is easier to spread. Also, as far as that video is concerned. There's a big difference in consoles in the 90s and consoles today. Moving parts. Increases the likelihood for system failures. You don't have to buy the new consoles. Nobody is forcing you. Wait til the consoles are worth it, in your eyes. While you do that, I will enjoy my new console. You're happy; I'm happy. No worries. :)

  • Fair enough. I still don't believe it is acceptable as far as failure rates go, it they were the same as other consumer electronics, how come we don't hear about other electronics failing with the same consistency? Most TV's or computers cost more money than the consoles, wouldn't we hear about them just as much if they were failing equally? How about tablets or cellphones? Why is this a problem that only happens with gaming consoles to this degree?

  • Maybe, but that doesn't mean I have to put up with crap consoles. I'm not putting my money down till the console drops in price or Destiny comes out, whichever is first
